Yep! I had to accept that I can't hoard my collection of sets and every color of every clothing item ;;;
Yeah, I have to go through and clean out my storage every other day or so to make sure it doesn't fill up. I usually have about 1510-1520 items in there after I clean it out.
I think it's mostly due to clothing and keeping 3 of each bug/fish so that I'll have them for models.

I've been doing pretty good on storage - I think hitting capacity with all the other previous storage sizes all the time made me get in the habit of cleaning out my storage pretty regularly, so even with 1600 max now I have a habit of getting rid of stuff I don't use and it's going a long way for me.

I recently made a second character and I'm burning through my savings to upgrade his house entirely for the sake of more storage.
Do I need 500 stacks of Wood? Probably not. But I might.
In my dream world, we'd have an update to the game that lets us upgrade the size of the other 3 rooms on the ground level, and those upgrades would also give us more storage space.

I've still got some storage space thankfully, not sure why I feel holding onto all these duplicate fossils and things I don't need.
I'll probably run out of space soon though, I've got turnips and diy recipes all over 3 rooms of my house instead of furniture.

Every item of clothing I liked from Able Sisters in every color I liked it in. Items I'm storing to give as one of my daily presents to my villagers (those rotate out pretty quickly) plus some in colors I don't like just because they're not reorderable. Items I'm going to use to decorate with somewhere but haven't figured out where yet. Rare/hard to get items like Nook Miles items I don't want to decorate with but have, especially ones from friends' islands in different colors than I can get.
Loads of crafting materials.
I'm at 1000-1100 out of the final 1600.

I buy every new thing that shows up in the stores every day. That includes every color of every new clothing piece in Able's. It's easy to end up filling things up for me. Most of it is junk I don't want though. Most things I buy just to get it catalogged so I can get it later whenever I want it.
That being said, I feel like 1600 is a pretty good amount of space. I wouldn't mind for it to be bigger, but I have no complaints about this particular thing.
