I get it tho, I barely scratched the surface and am already past the half way mark of storage. In the game where you want to collect/catalog things, having a limit is a hindrance. I might create another profile just to store items that I know I won't use right away. I know you can catalog and then buy from Nook Shopping but when you combine seasonal DIY, it gets too much too quick.

I'm sitting at around 1,500+ and keep it that way.
Majority of my storage space are taken by resources (wood, stones, iron nuggets, star fragments, shrub starts, fences, etc).
I try to free up space every other day because my anxiety is killing me every time I look at my storage numbers.

I'm getting pretty close on running out of storage, but I can at least get rid of a couple hundred clothing items I don't use at all. Second character with the upgraded house is close in the future for me.

I ran out of space the other day and I too have the 1,600 maximum. My problem is that I have other characters that I want to make and I have items that I want to keep for them, particularly clothing items, but I've been concentrating on trying to get Tucker to show up on the Nook Miles Islands to be my Lazy villager and he absolutely refuses to show up despite Lazy being the only villagers that can show up for me currently. I think I'll be fine in the long run because the other characters I plan to make having their own 1,600 storage capacities, but in the short term it has been fairly annoying.

The NMT Islands are random and based on species not personality iirc! It'd be easier to do the campsite method to get Tucker if you don't have any other lazies.
I have a second character but I don't really plan on using him as storage cause...I kind of find it a pain to switch between characters just to get something from their storage lol

I don't think that's the case for my situation? I thought after the initial starting villagers of Jock and Uchi/Sisterly, the three villagers you find next on the Nook Miles Islands were Normal, Peppy, and Lazy? I recruited my Normal and Peppy but have been at the hunt for Tucker for weeks now. That has seemed to be the case since I've only been encountering Lazies and have seen all of the species so far, I think.
But I digress, to get back on topic, hopefully that hunt will be able to come to an end soon so I can concentrate on making my additional player characters for more storage. Though if it takes too much longer, I might just start making them anyway.
