This has been going on for a year, we got Comatose. I'm surprised we even got that.

@Tom Very true but him being a retired staff member won't make him any less cool.

I'm in agreement with Psycho/Rob here, the staff as they are right now, are fine.
I know I've ranted and moaned before about them, but I can see it from another side.
They're going to be working on new things, whatever they may be (new staff for new forums perhaps?).
And also as Psycho said, activity doesn't make the mod. Spammers and such will find the time when nobody is on, no matter how many staff there are.

internet. srs bzns.

I think it was mino that suggested/said it first, mods need to be active at certain times, such as when other mods are asleep/not able to be active.

spread out over the country/world, or perpetually nocturnal, so that the "hxc trolls xDDD" don't have as much of a window of opportunity.

still, one doesn't need to be on at all times, and there doesn't need to be twelve dozen mods running around locking everything, cuz that's a no good for the business.

this thread, however, should be locked. cuz that's a good for tha business.

@Dandy Andy

I never said that the spammers should be mod. There are active members here who would do a wonderful job. Yes some mods are doing great, some just …

So as I said before, you've got your opinion, and I've got mine.

When did I say spammers should be mods? 0_o
Yeah, some mods don't pull their weight.
Oh my bad big brother.

But yep. That's pretty much all I'm saying. Some need to be more active.

We usually don't get spam attacked late at night. I'm usually busy every weekday around 5-7 eastern which is the main time we get attacked.

Whynot contact the inactive staff first before doing any serious actions and if they don't reply within a week or say they don't want the job anymore then feel free to remove their powers.

Still not fair. They've earned their spots as staff members. They've been here a while - longer than most of us - and we can't just revoke their powers because they haven't been too active in the past year.

Yeah, but isn't it a little unfair to award mod spots to members just because they've been here the longest?

Not that we need new mods, of course. Just because some guy made several posts with porn in it doesn't mean we're being attacked.

No, I mean the mods that have already been here (that were mods before TBT boomed) shouldn't lose their spot just because they haven't been inactive for a year or so.

:r

Kay dudes. The mods were good at the time, but clearly they've gotten lives and stopped being active. I'm not saying they suck at being mod, just it might be better if we appoint active members as mods. (No not just any active members) People who would actually be good for the job.

Well, who do you have in mind, Pally?

Well I have a few.
But look at someone like Rawb.
IMO perfect mod material right there.

There are some mods who are just fine. But there are a lot of inactive mods who have like even barely made a post this year. I don't see what the point is of them being mod then.

Also, I'm not saying the most active members should be mod. No the ones who are fit for the job.
Derp.
A lot of the mods were much more active when they were modded. When I became a mod I posted a lot almost every day. But over time you know less and less people on the forum, there are less and less interesting topics, etc. But that does not mean a mod that doesn't post a lot is not doing their job. A lot of what the staff does is "behind the scenes". So if the staff did their job perfectly (all spam, bots, etc. gone in a second) you'd never know the staff was doing their job so well. But the forum notices every single time a mod is not on and a spam/troll thread is around for half an hour or an hour.

As for adding more staff... it's always something on at least part of the staff's minds. But more staff can't be added all the time... because a staff too big is just as bad or even worse than one too small. When the right person comes along they become a mod... but there is rarely a rush to make this happen.
