Since the E3 board will be taken down soon I figured I'd go ahead and make a discussion thread for Splatoon. I'll update the OP with screenshots and stuff later when I can get around to it.

Developers vs Treehouse

"All we’re showing at E3 is the four-on-four multiplayer, but the developers have a lot more modes that they’re working on and that they’ll be revealing in the future." Source

Tbh I just looking forward to fulfilling my lifelong dream of being a squid swimming through pools of paint

Looks fun but I highly doubt I'll buy it- Doesn't seem like it's anything more then a couple fun mechanics that I'd enjoy for a few minutes

Can we merge this thread with the existing, but we keep this threads title? This title is wayyyy better than mine

I am so excited for this game omg

Hopefully there are no Amiibos

I already went ahead and closed the other thread. Merging them would make everything all jumbled at this point.

No offense, and I uderstand your decision, but why didn'tyou just change the title and close this thread. Many more people had been disscussing the game on the previous thread and consequently there was a bigger range of topics people were talking about.

Looks fun but I'd like to see some high level players well play this game. Just look at these two gifs! They make me more excited than anything else Nintendo could possibly say.

I plan on updating this one with new info as it comes out and will probably stick it if it gets enough activity. The range of topics that were discussed in there are completely welcome to be discussed in here as well, as it's literally for the same thing.

I'm pretty excited for Splatoon! Also, I love the title of the thread. xD

especially since the other thread came first ._.

The game looks cool, but it's not anything I'd buy day one. Don't get me wrong, it looks like it'd be a great game, but I'm saving my Day one purchases for SSB3DS and Zelda U.

It looks like Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare in a few ways...but I guess you could argue the same for many shooters.

I've been kind of exhausted of these FPS titles recently, so eh. It is a unique idea though.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I got a chance to play Splatoon today and didn't feel it warranted making a new thread.

The controls are really easy to get used to. You move with the left stick and look left/right with the right stick. To look up and down you need to move the Game Pad around. ZL turns you into a squid while ZR fires. X is jump and Y is used to center the camera.

I only got three minutes to play but it felt really natural somehow. I already knew how the game was played due to the E3 presentation, all I need to get used to was the controls. The warping to a certain point is also really easy. You just tap on another player and it shoots you off like a rocket, landing you right in the action. The dude manning the booth I stood at was surprised how quickly I learned, but I honestly felt that they've done a good job with mapping the controls and making the game easy to pick up and play.
My team ended up losing, but I managed to be MVP of my team that round, with three or four kills under my belt and a bunch of territory taken.

After playing I'm sure that this is a day one purchase for me.

I'm REALLY excited about this game and have been ever since I saw the Nintendo presentation and the E3 demos. Nintendo really needed more online multi-player games, I felt, and they came through with flying colors with this idea. It's innovative, bright and colorful, and nothing like other shoot-em-up sorts of games that all tend to look largely the same and haven't interested me for the past decade or longer.

I doubt I'll get the chance to play Splatoon in any kind of in-store demo or the like, since I live in the middle of nowhere, but even without trying the controls out for myself, I'm confident that I would have a lot of fun with this game.

All hail cute squid girl squad! I'm so ready for this. It'll probably be a release day purchase for me.
