So with these updates they are release more and more items geared towards the seasons and holidays. I'm not sure how NL progressed. Does the update slowed down after a while or was it still monthly?? With more and more items/NPC being brought back what would be left for next year?

NL didn't have updates until one giant update 3-4 years in. So we have no idea what to expect here since we're in uncharted territory.

NL didn't really get updated in the same way! It was kind of before they added features in online updates like this. As someone noted above, they did one big update around 2016 which added new features but it was really the only one NL got. Hopefully the NH updates don't cool down too much and they have plenty of fun things in store.

I'm hoping they do future events with AC: Pocket Camp items or something. They added a lot of really cool and fun items to that game, so I'm hoping that in the future they add them (or some of them) into NH!

yeah I agree. I do think they will release updates time to time next year due to the popularity, and the better console hardware.

??!?!!?!?! wha?
Ya I remeber at. My ACNL was on my 1st 3DS and the Spinoff was on my 2nd 3DS XL. Then ACNL Added Welcome Amibbo and Add support to read the other game Save file. I Never Use the cards and amibbo in it as it was new and late in the ACNL life. I Did see the cards on sell When i was at toyrus Pokemon Build a block pokeball. wish i grab them but did not know at the time they was Out of print.

Well, there are still a good amount of villagers that didn't even make it to Wild World and beyond (looking at you, Pierre) and there are also tons of items in New Leaf that didn't make it at all into New Horizons (looking at you, Sloppy series). I could imagine that besides completely new content, they may also gonna bring back some old content, like as said in form of returning villagers, items etc.

Wasn’t there an interview when the game first came out where they said they planned three years minimum of updates?

My post above yours has the article you're talking about!

another Q..... is it three years of new contents or recycled one from NL and prev gen?

Aya was quoted as saying

"We want to make sure that in two years or three years down the road, players will still continue to find new surprises in the game. So we hope to create an update that you can do that with."

Which is a bit weird phrasing because it makes it sound like there will be one BIG update. I think that could be because of the translation from Japanese to English though.

Well Ya i hope they do return some of the Old content from the past games. I did not waste money on a New 3DS and The Amibbo late in the New leaf Life made not get the Addon for my old 3ds and get the card as they was a Unknow to me. New Horzion is the 1st game i getting into Amibbo Toys and Cards if the cards do reprint them.

I think (or at least hope) by next year the majority of the big updates will be done - I'm hoping the autumn update will bring leif/brewster/farming and all that so once that's all in the updates might be smaller like new furniture and new villagers?

I definitely think with the game's profits and popularity they will see through to the 3+ years they promised us. I'm personally hoping for all the previous games items to return with fun new colors and hopefully the pocket camp items (either free or a paid DLC, doesn't make a difference to me I just want PC items). I also hope for holidays to have new items, or even how the event works all together. I also hope for a quality of life update, especially crafting multiples of the same item at once.

More unrealistically, I hope for an update with more pattern slots, more villager plots available (nintendo pls let us have 15 villagers optional), and new villager species (bats, foxes, ferrets/weasels, marine mammals).

I believe we will continue to get holiday updates every year to tweak or change the holiday event/rewards. As well as continued QOL updates; I'm sure they will include updates to custom design slots, new furniture items, house exteriors, dialogue changes, etc.

I'm also hoping in year 3 they re introduce the small events that occurred in games like wild world that were not necessarily large holidays, but small celebrations like acorn day or a twist on the flea market. New NPCs also sounds possible as so far we really only had the same ones we have seen before. I also still firmly believe at some point we will be able to travel to new islands similar to Harvey's in which it's not player made and features different npcs/villagers.

I dont see them abandoning the game after 1 year at all, we are barely scraping the surface of the possible content as is. and I wouldn't be surprised if they have either a gigantic update at the end of year 3 or continue making updates.
