soo...about the dream suite being saved on cloud.

im not sure if the old players remember but back in New Leaf, when we saved our dream town to the dream suite, it means saving to nintendo's cloud server and when we delete our town, our dream town data would be still there. meaning even if our town is all gone, it doesnt affect the our island data in cloud at all. Would that mean we can safely revamp our whole island once done without any consequences? because tbh im so done with my current island i wanna flatten everything but im still trying to get a youtuber to tour my island.

new leaf's saved dream isn't saved forever though iirc. it could get deleted due to inactivity. but yeah, even if your town is gone, the saved data is still in cloud (for new leaf at least). but i wouldn't say "safely revamp our whole island once done without any consequences", the saved back up is the feature for that, not dream suite. although i'm confused what you mean by that because idk if you're talking about deleting your island or just changing current island. because sooner or later you'd upload the new version & it will overwrite the old one.

data in cloud and data on your switch are not linked. so even if you delete your whole town, the cloud data of ur island will still be there. thats how cloud in general works and also back in NL. but im not sure about this time round in NH

We have to wait and see if it works differently, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo deleted old ones or forced you to reupload once a month.

I'm not so sure because when NL got the amiibo update, old dream addresses became invalid. I wonder if we have to continually save new DAs with each new update in NH. Or perhaps there will be some major update on March 20 of 2021 or something that will also force islands to save a new DA. I just wouldn't be too sure yet!

There is probably going to be some rules to the backup and restore functions. If they let us do it without limits, it would be very easy to abuse:

1. back up the island
2. give everything away
3. restore the backup

And there is an easy dupe for you.

Maybe a backup will need to be a certain age? Maybe you can only do it once every year? I really doubt it'll be an "oops, let's go back to yesterday" button that we can use whenever we want. But at this point, who knows?

why march 20 2021?

because NH came out on March 20 and I was thinking they might do some "anniversary" update or something next year, like how the amiibo update for NL came out around NL's initial release date (early November)
