Despite growing up with the Sega Genesis and enjoying a few Sonic games (Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), I'm going to go with Mario. I feel like Sonic lost appeal for me when they started giving him a voice; he was better for me as a silent character with his attitude conveyed via gestures in the classic games.
Since I didn't really have early experience with platforming games, in fact not really getting into any until I got older, I'm not great at mainline Mario games. That said, I'm more into the other side games like Mario Party, Mario Kart and the various Mario sports games.
