Some questions about the NPCs/Villagers

So I know that there's an NPC in the game called Brewster, who will run the Museum cafe. But I was wondering, does he need a house like any other villager, or does he live in the museum somewhere, like how the Able sisters live in their store, rather than a house? And are there other villagers like him, i.e. villagers who don't just live in a house on the island, but have some sort of job function as well, and is not just for talking to?

I'm specifically trying to add any NPCs that does something on the island, or that don't need a house, before I decide which villagers I want to add to the remaining houses, hence the questions.

Other than Brewster the special characters who "live" on your Island without needing a house are Tom, Nick, Isabelle, Timmy, and Tommy, blathers, Mabel and sable, Orville and Wilbur, Kappn', and Pascal.

special npcs never take up a housing spot, though some still take up a spot for a building where they work

Thanks, that helps a bunch, only a couple I didn't know about. But who's Nick? I couldn't find anything about any such NPC, just about nicknames. Do you mean Niko, the monkey, from Happy Home Paradise?

Lol, should've figured that out. Anyway, thanks for the help, means I can start to wonder about which 10 villagers to invite to the island immediately.
