For people who do not want to TT in periods of more than a day at a time, can you still cycle villagers out?

For example, if you want to remain on the current date, will TT one day back and one forward, and rinse and repeat until someone gets the thought bubble work? Can they get the thought bubble this way?

I'm aware of the method to reset the game if a villager asks to move that you want to keep (to avoid cooldown) - does this also work with one day back and one forward, or does it HAVE to be forward day by day.

Sorry if these are obvious questions to some cyclers!

I don't know if this would help but with different methods I found to kick out villagers with TT, I always try to make like a time loop? For example if we talk about moving 10-15 days and so, I try to always go back to dates I've been before (March - release max), and not move more forward than the real date. What I've noticed with this is that the game will count the days if the last time you saved was.... perhaps a week difference? Isabelle will appear, but with small day changes, the game doesn't count them and she doesn't make her announcements.

But if you talk about day forward, day back, as raqball pointed out, I don't think that works because not even Isabelle shows up, or at least in my experience (I take the announcements as the game showing me they are indeed taking into account the days I'm moving)

Hmm weird, but if you go one back and one forward she does make her announcement on the present day as if it is a new day. FYI I'm saying back one day, and then forward to the present, not the other way around.

It will not work..

Actually it will work. Time-traveling the day forward will progress the villager move outs, but time traveling backwards is treated as the same day. I was doing this to farm Celeste recipes and had villagers asking to move out a few times.

Really this "soft time-travel" method is just 20 times more time consuming. If you want to time travel to kick out a villager, jump 15 days, then go day by day, until the one you want asks to leave. You can move backwards to the correct day afterwards.

Isabelle will do the announcements on the day you move forward 1 day, but not the days you move backwards.

Oh yeah? Hm, then maybe I did something wrong when I was going day to day. Then it should work right? Since each time you do back and forward it could count as +1 day? But the amount of time you're going to need though... I mean if you have the patience go for it, but it may be less time consuming going like 5-7 (assuming that wouldn't be uncomfortable for you) days back and come to the present (day by day or as you prefer) again.

Oh yeah, of course, but I must have done something wrong there, maybe leaving without saving hahaha

Thank you that is good to know! funnily enough just as I typed this someone asked to move. so it really does work.

No it will not... Been there tried that for hours.... Have it though, let me know when you are ready to give up.. :p

Did you ignore the rest of my post explaining that it did work when I was farming Celeste recipes (moving a day forward then a day back). Are you force closing out of the game or saving? If you force close, it doesn't count.

You force close when a villager you don't want asks to move out, not when there are no villagers ask.

Nope I didn't ignore anything, I just don't believe it... I tried for hours and and gave up. If it actually worked then people would be doing it as opposed to going forward, weeks at a time...

Honestly if you’re going to time travel in any way, just move forward instead of doing what you are describing. There’s really no risk. You can’t lose your villagers and weed cleanup is not difficult.

Dude it literally just worked for me

Thanks for the tip, I guess I'm too used to NewLeaf and paranoid

People jump weeks at a time because it is FASTER. It takes around 14 days for a villager to ask to move out. Going back and forth one day is a waste of time. I don't care if you believe me or not, you're doing sometime wrong on your end either by not saving or constantly going backwards.

Sure it did.... And on the 1st try nonelesless???

Ok, I'll let you all enjoy this thread. For the rest, it does not work.. If you want to move a villager TT forward and be done with it.. :)

actually it took several tries (about 4). It objectively works, it's not even opinion at this stage.

As far as I know going backwards counts as ONE DAY... Even if you go backwards a year, it counts as one day... Techincally I suppose it's possible to 'soft tt' (whatever that is) but you'd have to do it (forward and back) 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 times just to get one bubble... Sorry, for practical purposes it does not work. I guess if you want to TT forward and back 28-40 times just for one bubble then have it... I am still not sold it works but I'll take your word for it..

My .02

Let's not turn this into an argument ^^U

It seems that it worked! It may be a lot slower but at least people that are more afraid of TTing can use it if they have the patience (or you know, maybe one day they do it a little to at least speed up the natural process, since I guess it ends up taking 1 day from the cooldown we've seen for moving villagers?), and in the end luck always affects this things a little, I'm glad you got it done quickly OP ^^
