So you weren't happy with the update..is there at least something you appreciate from it?

I’m excited about Pascal’s return because he was one of my favorite NPCs. I’m not excited about the mermaid set though aside from collecting it since I never cared for the set in NL. The video did not give me enough info on the new Gulliver, so, I’m uncertain how to feel about him. I thought the diving was relatively fun, but I can’t say I am overly excited about it since there are other features I’d much rather have first/more than diving such as cooking, growing vegetables/other fruit (like strawberries), not to mention have more food furniture. The update preview as a whole to me was pretty underwhelming to me, BUT I’m going to keep an open mind. I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy the new content even if it doesn’t include things I’ve been hoping for, since I am still enjoying the game in spite of it not having the furniture that I’d like to see in the game.

I'm feeling a lot better now and I've watched the trailer again. I'm looking forward to diving and I think the undersea creatures will look adorable in the museum. I really hope that the starfish can be displayed like the turtles are outside because they would look wonderful on the beach next to the sandcastle!

The update isn't even out yet. I'm sure there's more to it than simply being able to swim and dive, which is year-round, by the way.

I've said this to my S.O. a couple times. It was a 90 second teaser trailer, I'm sure there are a lot of other little things we'll see once we get the updates, and the patch notes or datamines. I can't imagine they'd put something like buying NMT in stacks in a promo like that. A large segment of the audience wouldn't care the way we do. I'd consider it "highlights" of the update.

I’m excited for diving and new creatures to catch. And pascal is an otter!! One of my favorite animals. And that mermaid set is georgeous!!! I’m not that excited about Gulliver though because I’m worried that he’ll be around more often and there’s other npcs I like more. I am waiting for Brewster though because even though I never played the older games, hearing about all this stuff makes me excited. I love coffee so the idea of having a coffee shop and coffee to drink sounds amazing. I hope it’s part of August’s update

I honestly think the trailer didn't reveal everything. Trailers don't show everything. I also saw on Nintendo soup there's more things being added.

Saying that people are “whining” or “complaining” is demeaning. If it’s “complaining” to express your opinion than you might as well say that people are also “complaining” about people “complaining”. People have a right to express their opinions. To me understanding and accepting are not mutually exclusive concepts. You don’t need to understand why someone thinks a certain way just accept that they do and move on.
Nintendo will always mainly care about its own place of origin more than it does other countries. They are in the NH therefore if you are as well it’s not a big deal for you. Yet when Nintendo releases new amiibo only for Japan when people want them so bad it’s perfectly understandable when people get upset over it. To me it’s the same thing as being upset when the game you love doesn’t think about you. I would like to add that just because the trailer didn’t show much for SH doesn’t mean that the update wont be enjoyable for everyone because diving is diving and on a tropical Island it is a necessity.

As for what I like about the update I’m exited by the idea that there might be pirate furniture. because pirate stuff

I'm trying to cut them some slack since this is their first time doing events like this but yeah, some more originality would be good!

Like, what if they did an event where the diving was put to use like in an underwater exploration event? Ooo, or maybe a carnival event would have been great for summer as well! With mini games all over the island and the animal was a weasle who came to the island to make bells and he is like a "swindler" type whom tried to get you to loose at the games?

Awe. I started thinking about why I was so negative with it when I was talking to my husband and he was surprised that I wasn't happy with the idea of diving in ACNH. That's when I realized that I'm probably not giving it a fair chance and letting my rough patch get to me. I mean, I did like diving in New Leaf (except when I did it solely for the scallops and started to hate it a little) and there is no reason why I wouldn't like it in ACNH either.

The starfish really needs to happen! I really hope so. Or at least let us display seaweed or something for our beaches. It would be so cute!

I'm not personally that excited for the update itself (although I'm happy for those who missed swimming and diving in NH!), but I'm still happy about it because it makes me hopeful that other things that were also found in datamining (like Brewster and farming) will eventually be added as well. obviously this isn't a confirmation or anything, but I'm looking forward to future updates!

My feelings about animal crossing new horizons:

I for one love the game that I looked forward to for so long, and I love the updates ... it doesn’t have to be what I personally thought it should be ... it is what it is and I am loving playing it!

I personally think some people love to stir the pot with negative opinions and complaints ... that’s their right, but I don’t allow it to spoil my pleasure in the game.

You can’t change how some people feel about the game/updates, so don’t try, ... just play your game and be happy LOL

Regarding getting embroiled in negative discussions, or having your joy spoiled by them, I have always loved the advice of George Bernard Shaw:
Never wrestle with pigs.
You both get dirty, and the pig likes it!

I'm glad they added swimming back into the game. I missed it a lot from New Leaf. Hopefully I'll get the blue snorkeling mask and find a blue wet suit. I really want those in the color blue. I may end up having to trade though if I don't get blue. One thing I didn't like about New Leaf was that the blue wet suit was only on Club Tortimer, but it seems like it won't be like that this time and I won't have to go looking for the new one too much. Thank you... XD

I dont care for the mermaid and pirate stuff and would have voted for other sets to come back instead if such a poll existed, but seeing diving back is enough to make me happy because i enjoyed it in nl even though i stopped doing it after a while. I know people say it was bad in nl but i didnt feel that way, so i would not mind if it was the same, but i feel they might have improved it so hopefully even the ones who disliked it in nl can enjoy it now.
