So yeah, I actually did it! I flattened my island!

Spoiler: Preflattened island

Note; There was another two layer cliff on the right between B6 and E6 but I forgot to snap a screenie before demolishing it. Also there was a third layer on B2 and a third layer between B4 and B5. Again, screenie forgotten.

Surprisingly it wasn't as tedious as I thought it was going to be. I just grabbed a snack, popped on Smallville and went to town. Took me about 3 hours total not including breaks. Probably helped that I did this right at the beginning of unlocking terraforming and not when I had a bunch of houses and items placed down.

hey, good job! i’ve been thinking of flattening my island as well at some point, but it’s always seemed so intimidating and exhausting lol, especially since i have flowers, items and houses everywhere haha. maybe i’ll give it a go one day!

There is one strange cliff area on my Island that was just there for absolutely no reason when I reset my Island. It just has trees and flowers and is in the middle of the left side of the Island. I have no idea why it was there in the first place as there is no pond there and it didn’t even connect to the river. I’m flattening it to make a farm and orchard there. I just need to get rid of the trees and flowers first.

Congrats! I did the same thing last week. Put all decorations on the land in storage, sold all flowers except for my hybrids, cut down every tree then started from scratch slowly moving houses and buildings. I liked my island, just needed a change after 2+ years. I'm glad I did it, different flow and feel to it now!

Oof, have fun. That's a lot of work and you're only halfway done.

We have very similiar islands and right now I'm designing it after its original layout. I'd had no idea what I'd do with it if I didn't just make things symmetrical.

Stuff like this makes me wonder if everyone flattens their island at some point to start completely from scratch, or if they just build off what’s already going on. I did end up flattening my island completely. I never finished my island either. I just stopped playing eventually…

I don't think I'll ever do anything like that because I have my island's homes and other buildings well established. I like the layout In fact, I've done minimal terraforming. I moves a pond which was near the airport one tile to the left. With that, I took a picture and did my best to reconstruct the pond. There were a few areas along the river that I expanded because I had a villager house there, but I fixed those to be similar to those that were on day one. The most glaring use of terraforming besides stairs and bridges was shaping land along the rivers to accommodate bridges I wanted in locations. That and cleaving a straight path from the beach area in the back to the main part of the island.

As much as I think I'd like more buildings, I'm glad they didn't because I'd have problems deciding where they should go.

Okay I admit, I'm at a loss on what to do with this island now. So it's still flat as a board and my attention is now focused on Happy Home Paradise. XD
