Does anyone know the frequency of the glitch? There's a random villager at my campsite and, even though he's not one of my dream villagers, I kinda wanna invite him just because I don't have a cranky villager. Problem is I've heard many things about the I've moved glitch: It can happen whether or not you time travel, it doesn't necessarily happen with amiibo scans.

I'm scared to let ANY new villagers move onto my island until the glitch gets patched out...IF it gets patched out (also heard Nintendo has allegedly tried and failed to patch it out). I'm not a time traveler and don't want to. So I could be stuck for weeks on end depending on how long the plot stays in place.

So, does anyone know exactly how often the glitch occurs when villagers move in after other villagers move out?

From what I've been seeing, it isn't EXTREMELY common.. but it does happen more than it should. From what I can tell, it's only happened to voided villager or invited villagers. Natural move-ins seem fine?

Well then I can't invite this villager. My island has ten so I'd have to move one out.

If they're in your campsite, you should still be able to move them in. The only issue is the villager selected to move out is completely random.

I thought voided villager meant you choose one to move out when your island is full and you're trying to move someone in?

No, a voided villager is just the term used for a villager who moves away from a town/island who was never adopted. They're kinda just 'stored' there, and can be picked up under certain conditions. In New Leaf, someone could clear it by visiting a town that was full but I'm not sure about New Horizons.

Never adopted as in I never got the villager from another town?

Never adopted as in nobody invited the boxed villager to their town, so the game just decides to send them to the void where anyone can pick them up by visiting, etc.

Ah. Well none of my villagers since I started my island on March 20 have moved out. So I assume they'd end up in the void in that case. I still might not invite Groucho if the villager who moves out is random though....I have two dream villagers at the moment.
