So i reset my island and..

So I reset my island yesterday and it's only just now starting to sink in that it's all gone.. I got my friend to hold some stuff for me but what I'm really missing is the town itself.. My villagers.. The fact it was my first town.. The whole island itself. I miss it so badly. I've been crying about it for the past 30 minutes. I just.. I really want my old save back.. I don't even really want to play much anymore because of this.. And I doubt I could go back and watch my old villager singing videos without getting emotional

Am I being ridiculous for all this ;;

Not being ridiculous at all! I have thought about resetting, but I know I'd be devastated if I did. Hopefully you'll feel better soon and start falling for your new island and new villagers all over again!

Nothing you can do about it now but move forward. You have a new blank canvas! If you miss your original villagers, I find that it's pretty easy to trade for them, unless of course you want those rare coveted ones.

It's not silly, pretty understandable. But remember why you reset. You weren't happy with something... now you can make it right.

I think this bad feeling will go away soon, try not to dwell too much on the finality of all of it, and try to focus on the new and the future. Big changes aren't always easy and sometimes we question if we made the right decision, but it'll work out.

The villagers I miss the most are O'Hare (ez since I have his amiibo), Snake, Static, Tom, Marshal, and Raymond (oh boy..) I want 1 of each personality type this time so I can't exactly have all 3 smugs.. Hmm.. ;-;

And what made me want to reset the most was the fact Resident Services was unbearably close to the airport..

I want to vote whatever just to balance out the poll lol. Jokes aside, i dont think youre being silly. i know i wouldnt be able to go through a reset ;-; I think with time, this feeling of loss will fade as you build new friendships with new villagers, do all the fun stuff all over again!

If you need anything, and I mean anything, whether that be items or even just someone to talk to and lean on, I got you. Don't hesitate to let me know. I know how hard this is. My first, best, and most loved town in New Leaf broke. It doesn't let me play it anymore and I get so emotional when I think about it. I lost everything. Now, I know ours is different because I broke mine and yours was by choice, but that doesn't make it any less hard or different. You still lost a lot of stuff. You have a lot of support on this forum. You're not being ridiculous or silly or anything but normal. This got so out of whack and I don't even know if I got my main point across, or hell if I even made you feel better (or if I made you feel worse I am so sorry I'm so bad at explaining things), but hey, you have feelings and they aren't crazy

You're not being ridiculous at all. I was just thinking about how I felt when I was restarting and everytime I would be moving stuff to my boyfriend's island, I would feel sick. Like I wanted to apologize to my islanders and then not restart. But it definitely has helped me with a fresh perspective. I like my island a lot better and I feel more accomplished.

I'd be really upset if I lost my island - I have so many memories attached to it and sometimes I find myself looking at an area and reminiscing about how it used to look when I was just starting out.

You must have had a reason to reset your island, though. There's no point dwelling on it now; it's done.

You might as well enjoy the ride again.

I'd be really upset too (I could never reset oh god) but you must have made the decision for a reason (your plaza being to close to the airport, a struggle I can relate too lol) so think about the new possibilities with your new layout! besides, you can always get your villagers back ^-^
you also get to enjoy collecting again! I wouldn't look back too much, and enjoy this new time
besides, you might meet some new villagers you really love now ^-^

Can relate... I still remember some of my old villages that I kicked out sometimes.. especially Ketchup... she was such a nice villager but she had to go... there are times where I think I'd want her back but alas...

I mean, yeah. Having negative feelings over it is understandable, but you shouldn't obsess over games to the point where they make you cry. You reset for a reason, and in the long run it'll be much better. It's a lot of work to do everything again, but this community has helped you out immensely so you'll have a much easier time. Just delete all your old stuff and commit to making this island so much better. I'm currently on my 4th island and I'm so happy about it now. No island will ever be perfect, but you have to commit to the save file that just works for you. You might not even play the game in a year from now, just make the best ouf of what you have now and be excited abour your options.

no i totally get it!! losing all that progress and the connections with your villagers can be so scary ;; i think the only thing to do it just pick yourself back up again and keep going! you can regain everything if you’re willing to do the work ^^ good luck!!

i completely understand! while it may be just a game, your feelings are completely valid and you’ve put a lot of time and dedication into your island, so of course resetting will be upsetting to you. maybe take a few days and take a break until you feel a bit better - take this time to think about what you didn’t like about your old island and how you’d like your new island to be better and any ideas you have. good luck <3
