So how long does it take for you to find Pascal?

Mostly on my first scallop. Though I always end up disappointed cause he gives me pearls instead of diys.

I usually fill my inventory or fill it half by the time i do get a scallop, and most of the time the first one i get he shows up, but i have had like maybe 5/30 encounters it took me finding 2 scallops for him to swim over T_T''

I'm lucky in that I typically get him on my first scallop, a little over halfway of my inventory being full of sea creatures (I grab EVERY bubble I see). I've had times where its taken two nook trips and like six scallops though.

Im usually lucky and find him after one trip, but once or twice had to go unload and then found him on the second try. also really hate it when i have the 3 sea creatures nook achievement and on the 3rd catch its a scallop, but doesn't show, c'mon that would have been perfect game

I use to be able to find him within 5-10 minutes, and often got really lucky and found a scallop as my first creature & had him show up. Recently though I've been spending 30+ minutes searching for scallops, only to not get him to show up at all. Honestly I'm giving up and just buying the recipes online, because I can't stand the randomness of it all anymore (I keep getting pearls from him, and have only gotten a couple recipes total)
Usually he shows up on my first scallop (the latest was my third) and usually it takes only one trip to the ocean, maybe around 10 dives or so?
It doesn't normally take TOO long.
Admittedly I haven't been diving every day lately- I have almost all the recipes and am getting lazy

fastest has been my first scallop of the day, the slowest has been on the 3rd.
easy, scallops have a specific bubble speed, movement speed, and shadow size so if it's not a scallop i ignore it. he'll always appear on the first scallop unless you either have a full inventory or you're too close to something obscuring where he pops up, generally the bordering nets. if you think you've found a scallop and it's up close to the net, chase it inwards.
So I've had it take 3 scallops, but I noticed that was when I had a full inventory or I was too close to one of the Eastern or Western sea walls. Now whenever I see the scallop-y like bubbles close to a wall I chase reaallly slowly to move them so the wall is out of eyesight and then I catch it, and Pascal has shown up every time since! Dunno if it's just luck, but that's worked for me so far. Somedays I still spend way too long looking without finding a single scallop 
Most of the time it's on my first try, but there was a couple of times he didn't show up till the second scallop I caught. I've been getting DIY recipes mostly with a few pearls in between. Though my mom has only been getting pearls lately... I feel bad for her...
