When not making bells, how do you pass the time in game? -- Or, do you only play to make bells/buy/advance your town?
Do you sometimes find yourself lurking around to talk to villagers, visit dream towns just for the heck of it, or going online to the island to play with random strangers?
I do almost all of the above when bored. Sometimes, I'd like to take a break from public work projects and their placements, paths, etc -- just to enjoy the game for what it is. Going online to the island can be somewhat boring, but at times it gets funny with the people in there. Especially when they're from different countries.
Now that I think about it, all I do is really play to advance my town. However, I'm up late a lot, so I've been recently going to the island at like 3AM just to do the labyrinth mazes and stuff.
Observing the landscaping of my town, improving on it, and thinking of how to improve on it. Some of the lakes, as much as I love them, make the ideal pathing a little hard to figure out... especially since paths being on the edges of things like cliffs and rivers looks so out-of-place and ugly.
I go on dream town binges, visiting 10-15 in one sitting. I'm working my way through a list of forest-themed towns, which is great inspiration. Sometimes I work through new homes in my HHA showcase, mainly to see if there are any nice (or funny!) room layouts. My fave was a room with two rows of palm tree lamps, a few sets of bongo drums, and an altar with a bunch of bananas on it! I've also been international island-hopping, but mainly to look for the island-only stuff. I get a bit antsy playing with other people, so I generally cruise through and then run away!
Play my side players after the mayor is done for the night. She's missing just the host badge ( not counting the streetpass one).
As soon as I get the okay that no one is moving one of the side players comes out to play. They have fun with the villagers while making progress on their badges.
Goal this year is to complete their golden net. Scorpion just needed for both.
i usually catch fish or talk to villagers then visit a lot of dream towns for the sack of gold badges ,but i've been visiting the island a lot more and gardening a bit in my town!
Part of the beauty of this game is that when you get bored of whatever thing you're doing or goal you're working towards, there is always something else. Badges are what are motivating my character long term right now. She's working on the gold badges for the catalogue, refurbishing and island tours, with a secondary focus on the silver badge for saving.
In the short term, I'm trying to get my house, museum rooms and cupboards organised. That's proving a multi-day task. I think I'm half done with the house.
When I get bored of whatever I'm doing at that moment I usually go talk to my villagers.
I like to find gifts for my fave Villagers and send them letters. I like to collect bugs and fish for the museum and I like to go to the island and get beetles and make that DOUGH!
I mostly empty my pockets on the ground wherever while wandering, procrastinate on picking everything up, have my town essentially turn into a landfill, and then pick everything back up. Rinse and repeat.
Are there people who only play to advance their town? I'd much rather spend all my time talking to my villagers or decorating my house or landscaping my town. I also really enjoy island games, but I usually play on my own because I've heard too many stories about bad Club Tortimer experiences ;_;
I'm just recently getting more into visiting dream addresses but mostly because I want the badge from Phineas heh
There's sooooo much to do in AC, I don't think I'll ever be bored of this game ^_^
One thing I love doing is going on Club Tortimer with my side characters when I get the chance to play as them. They each have set personalities that are used when I use them on CT (apart from Diana who just speaks like everyone else). Stella is very mysterious and will barely talk at all, and when she does she uses proper grammar, punctuation etc and doesn't use abbreviations like she will always say "your" and never "ur". Angelina is pretty social and will use words like how they speak in Splatoon, sort of...? Like she uses words like cool, yeah, totally, and will say for example "gettin' " instead of "getting." She will occasionally curse if the other person provokes her (which will be censored, not a fan of strait-up cursing especially since theirs like nine year old on Club Tortimer) When I eventually get all my dreamies and make Keiran, he will be very shy, not mysterious like Stella, just shy. He will say very little and will often say "um" or "uh", or any other phrases like that to show his shyness.
I just like pretending to be my character for a bit and see how others react, idk. So yeah that's what I do in my free time. I don't exchange friend codes there anymore, when I first got wifi I did that a lot and I learned my lesson when a big chunk of my things were stolen ;-;
island tours, fishing, filling up all of my encyclopedias, planning out room layouts, and pestering my villagers to ask me for favors until they get irritated with me
Now that I think about it, I do play quite a bit just to advance my town. However, lately I've been finding more and more free time to do whatever I want to do (especially since it's summer for me!)
