Snails

I think snails are cute but I find slugs infuriatingly disgusting. A Snail is just a slug with a mobile home to me so I don't get it

I've never actually seen a snail before (except when dipped in buttery garlic sauce and on my plate). Despite what it is escargot is not bad.

I had a pet slug for a brief period of time in grade 7. It lived in a dirt filled bottle that I co-owned with my best friend. She took it home over the winter break and left the bottle outdoors (presumably because her mom wouldn't let her bring a dirt filled bottle with a slug in it home) and I believe it froze to death. :(

I don't think much about them except when it rains and they're in my way when I'm walking home.

One thing thinking on this, isn't a slug a snail without a shell, or something along the lines? I remember when I was young, I used to put salt on them and watch them melt. It was kind of interesting. I can't say I've actually seen a slug since I was like 10 though.

You snail killers are so mean. :(

When I was a kid my cousin Andi and I would go hunting for snails in my grandmother's back garden. We didn't touch or harm them: we just counted how many we could find. They're pretty cute. :] Slugs however are evil and I'm known to scream if I almost step on one. Strangers (quite rightly) laugh at me.

-crashes through the wall- did someone say snails? ┏( ⊙ᴗ⊙)┛

I also like slugs as well, especially Sea slugs ((nudibranch))
these are just really beautiful.

snails are disgusting and i want to kill every single one of them
that wouldn't be such a great idea if every single snail
was killed.

"They are both predators, prey, and fertilizer! Without snails, birds, fish, and many other animals would lose a significant food source. Also, snails mostly eat plants, which helps keep some plants from becoming overgrown and choking out other life forms (certain kinds of aquatic weeds and algae would, and do, sometimes take over), and, of course, when they die, they decay. In general, snails are an important part of the food chain, and one more thing that nature needs to stay in balance."

Nudibranchs are amazing. Apart from the fact that anyone who doesn't know what they are just laughs at the name. I have some photos somewhere of some that I found whilst diving in Egypt, mostly from the genus Chromodoris (see, even the scientific names are fun!).

I didn't realise that it was illegal to keep land snails as pets in the US. As far as I'm aware it's legal over here.

I'm embarrassed this song didn't come to mind last time I posted. Dear snail fans, please give Snail Twist by Caleb Landry Jones (the dude in my avatar) a listen. :)

"In time I'll be known as the guy with the snail as his friend
We'll just laugh it off because they'll never understand
You could have been killed earlier and no one would've known
I'm glad i picked you up, my friend, in fact I think I'll take you home."

Not all land snails, just some invasive species. If you ever go through US customs after going abroad, one of the things you're asked is whether or not you've brought back any snails.

Makes sense, invasive species can be a real issue.
