Now that Round 1 is beginning to come to an end, I thought I should mention a few things for future rounds that will hopefully make them go a bit more smoothly.
Extensions
I thought I should make it a little clearer as to who should be asking for an extension. I know I originally said that I'll accept if one person in the match-up asks for one, but honestly, the person who is asking for an extension should be the one who isn't able to do their match by the deadline. If the other side has been trying to contact their opponent while said other side has been avaliable all day, why should they be the one to worry over their opponent not responding? Why is it their responsibility to extend the time even though they have been avalible the whole time? That being said if you need an extension, please provide a reason as to why you need one. It should not be from the person who has been available all day but from the person who isn't able to complete their match by the deadline. I'll be sure to make sure that both of you know that an extension was given. Also, please contact me if the round is about to end and you have not heard about any extensions from me or your opponent. I will help to resolve the issue. I hope that this will clear up some problems for future rounds.
Ending Matches
I'm only mentioning this now because I recently witnessed it happen in another tournament matchup that I was watching, not because I recieved any concern from other participants in this tournament doing this, so I thank you all for being truthful, and I'm glad that this hasn't been a problem... Hopefully, it won't ever be a problem either c:
But seriously guys, don't go into your round, end the match right as you see who your opponent is using, and then change your character accordingly. THAT IS REALLY NOT OKAY. It's really cheap and not fun at all :/. It takes away the fairness of not knowing who you're up against. The same goes for going into your match with items on, ending the match because "Oops, items were on, tEEHee" and changing your character.
Now if you want to stalk your opponent before your match to try to find clues as to what character they use before facing them, do as you please. That is your time spent stalking, and it's not anyone's fault for publicly displaying on the forums who they use in a match up. But don't waste anyone else's time during a match by ending it just to do that :////// I don't know, when I witnessed it happen I was stunned. Like, "Seriously? Really? SMH."
I understand that there are times when there are network errors and things actually do end. But to be fair, if the match ends for any reason, please redo the match as the character that you originally started with. If you "accidentally chose the wrong charcter" then, talk about it with your opponent. You both can come to an agreement as of what to do. But tbh, there are many chances before going into a match to go back and change your character, so that shouldn't be much of an issue. If something like this happens, and your opponent attempts to continue the fight as another character, please let me know. They will be given DQ.
I hope everyone understands the new changes! Sorry for being so strict about things right off the bat OTL;; Let's get those Round 1 matches done!
Thanks,
-Temari
