So Nintendo had listed Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as a GBA game for Lucario's card and they corrected it and uploaded it with the caption

Yup, I think the max is 7 though for Wii U (the player lights go; 4+1, 4+2, and 4+3 I believe.) And not sure how/if they show up on the home menu.
Little known fact, the Wii could have 8 connected for very few games, the Wii U apparently loses 1 though because whatever detects the wiimotes for the console takes up slot 8. - or so I hear.
Other than this, why is more than 4 any more confusing than 4? It's just a little more multitasking.
I think I heard Bluetooth has 7 connections or something.
It's not confusing-confusing, it was just the first time I heard of connecting more than 4 remotes to the Wii.

Iunno so much about bluetooth specifically. But yeah, it's been done with a few odd games, just nothing as big as smash bros before.

The Super Smash Bros Official page is the best thing ever.
On the subject of conquests battles, they posted
"The previous Conquest, "Do You Even Lift", was won by Ike, of course?"
Then they posted an image of Roy saying:
"Roy's our boy."
None of the other Koopalings (or Bowser Jr) have had their card yet, so I find it weird that Roy, an alternate colour, has had his. Unless they did it to use that pun.

Or you could just set all players to be CPU LV. 9 and only play with the lowest amount of turns. That is if there's nothing more than trying 3 different stages.
