Silksong

Hell...****ing...YES!! Loved the first game so much that this is practically a mandatory buy for me! (y)

Absolutely! I've been waiting for this sequel for years! I'm surprised it's coming so soon all of a sudden after this recent announcement. I'll probably get it on Steam. I saw some of the demo play on Youtube and Silksong looks like it will be just as amazing as Hollow Knight. Anyone else following Daily Silksong News?

Also I have to say in general that 2025 might be the best year I've seen for games possibly ever. There have been SO many great games coming out this year I don't even have the time for them all but I'm trying my best.

I've never been interested in Silksong but mayyybe I'll buy it one day on sale. Or borrow it from someone. Hollow Knight was a beautiful game with a great vibe, but to be honest I didn't love it. It wasn't a game that I would want to replay and I think that Silksong will be too similar for my liking.

Now that the game is out, what does everyone think? I think the visuals and music are excellent. I like how deeply the game focuses on the story, with lots of dialogue and NPC interactions. So far the game has been more difficult than I had expected, but maybe gets easier with more upgrades. At least it's nice you start out with a healing skill. I'm progressing slowly but surely and haven't been stopped by any boss for too long. But a few have been so difficult I needed to take a break and come back later. The only things I don't really like are some of the backtracking to bosses after dying, and bouncing off platforms sections. Overall I'd recommend Silksong if you're ready for a challenge.

I love the art style for this game but I haven't planned to get it since it is probably too difficult for me.

Is anyone still playing? If so where are you and what are your thoughts so far? I'm gradually making my way through act 2. I've beat most bosses I encountered so far, but some I will have to save for later. I haven't been able to beat any boss on the first try, but I can with some amout of practice. My favorite thing has been just the exploration, checking out every little part of the map. This is one seriously huge game. My least favorite part so far was climbing Mount Fay, although the reward was so worth it. I'm about to get into the Bilewater area which I also have heard not so good things about. Much of this game has felt like some endgame content of Hollow Knight, pushing the limits of what I'm able to do in an action game. Thankfully some of the upgrades I've been finding have made things slightly easier, and so far nothing seems impossible.

I haven’t playing Silksong or Hollow Knight, but it’s been recommended to me several times!

For someone new to the series, would people recommend I start with the first game?
Also what about the games makes them so popular?

Yeah I would recommend starting with the Hollow Knight, then later Silksong if you like that. While they play somewhat similarly, with the way exploration and fighting works, the first game starts off easier and gradually steps up the difficulty. Silksong starts off much more difficult to begin with, which becomes more manageable through later upgrades, but that might be offputting to some players. Story wise there doesn't seem to be a major connection between the two from what I have seen so far since they follow different stories in different places, although Silksong's main character was also involved in the first game's story. The appeal for me is the unique setting with bug people and the art style, huge maps full of secrets to explore, and exciting combat.
