hey everyone, i've been re-landscaping my island and i'm totally stumped on what to do with the area in front of my museum to make it look nice + interesting while still fairly compact (since i've used up all my inclines 😬). i've put a few fossils outside but it just looks so....drab....and the 3-tile-wide doorway is so hard to incorporate a bridge into which is the only thing i can think of!

SO i'd like to see what you folks have done with your museums for inspiration! bonus points for small or park-style areas but honestly i'd love to see anything that you're proud of, no matter how elaborate or what theme you'd consider it :D

Here’s mine I covered up the misalignment with hedges and there was a bench but, the golden seat was placed as a joke at first now it stays.

I really love the layout of the enterance here!! I love how you have the assortment of flowers on one side, and a path on the other, instead of it being perfectly symmetrical with both sides being the same!! Very unique, and i love the seat as well! Great jobb <33

Thank you!

agreed!! i almost couldn't tell that the door doesn't align 😱

i had this incline problem too. so i made re-adjustment with my plans and made sure to make them as useful as possible (meaning, not using all these inclines for 1 purpose)

the entrance itself is nothing grand because of the lack of space. i used mums only for this area because it's the native flower. (putting an incline to the side was my way of dealing with the 3-tile-wide doorway)

but i consider this as the actual entrance, except there's levels to it & it's not just leading to the museum.:

the middle level, going to the right will lead you to the marketplace and zen area, & then going to the left will lead you to a mini sitting area then a bridge to a villager neighborhood. the top or 3rd level is the museum and then if you walk further to the left, it's a hidden forest.
you might find something on google similar to this lmao i took inspiration from it, i just changed some of it.

then, a small snack area / sitting area below the middle level left just so it's not blank:

punchy loves snaking on this area, as he should

I couldn’t fit mine into 1 photo as I made an area at the entrance which is sort of a library area kinda thing.. (custom designs are not my own)

took me quite a long time and a lotttttt of black roses! But I think it’s pretty cute..

not the greatest pics, but this is my entrance so far. it's on the bottom level because i wanted to have rivers waterfalling around it, similar to how the museum in new leaf had a river around the side. there's not much of a path. if you're out of inclines, doing something similar to this might be nice. the area in front of the museum itself is still a bit incomplete, as i'm still figuring out most of the area to the east of it (my neighborhood) and unsure if it'll connect or just go straight down to the "main street" path below.

These are by no means the best photos I could’ve gotten, but it started bucketing rain just as I wanted to take some snapshots so that was great...

I based my museum off others online, as well as real museum entrances I saw growing up. There’s a cafe out front as a semi-tribute to Brewsters (although I had this here before I even knew who he was, tbh). I also made sure to incorporate at least one fish and bug model in the design, and two fearsome predators guarding the entrance (each representing a different period of geologic time).

Personally, I think it’s one of my favourite parts of my island!

Here's mine! I actually just made a post in my island journal about doing this area so I have some pics at the ready!

I dressed my area up with benches and lots of landscaping, and waterfalls! I always think areas look better when there's lots of bushes and flowers around! For the actual area around the museum I have some custom panel designs and some free fossil stalls in the back. I also highly recommend making a museum sign and displaying it out front! These kind of things look really cool from the air as well if the museum will be visible during the flyover!

This is mine!

It isn’t finished yet BUT I turned my museum entrance into sort of a cool study area and library zone

I used a custom paths to make it look like a consistent dark wood that’s elevated on a cliff and I tried to match the furniture to that and added a couch for that kind of coffee shop study vibe!
