The rocky parts of the beach, I mean. I've been struggling to figure out what to do with mine (besides using the perspective trick to make a "far away" lighthouse in the back) and I need inspiration 😛 I've been wanting to do a sort of secret, party beach (like, where teens might sneak off to) behind Dobie's house because... can't you just imagine that old coot scowling at those young'uns to GET OFF HIS LAWN, but then secretly bobbing his head along with their young people music? 😂

So, what have you guys done with yours?

(On a somewhat separate note- does anyone know where those wave breaker things go on a REAL beach? Like, I want to maybe use one or two, but I have no clue how they work in RL and I want to be realistic because, if there's one thing my talking animal game needs, it's REALISM, DANGIT.)

I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it, but on one of my rocks I made a campsite, minus tents (would love some tents for a furniture item though). I didn’t base it on any particular location in DAI (that’s what my town theme is), but I kinda just put it together from a fuzzy memory.

On two other rocks, I put a lighthouse and a gong on them; the lighthouse represents a guard tower. So far I like how that looks, but I might change it or replace my white lighthouses with the brick ones if I can find two I can trade for later.

with these new pirate and mermaid items i'd loveee to add a secret mermaid cove on one of my rocks eventually!
I also was planning on making a juice bar with a lounge since my island's whole theme is tropical/resort - esque

Some of the beaches I've turned into private beaches as part of a few of my residents' properties, so some of the rocks there have contained things for them. For instance, Sprinkle has some shell furniture on her beach, which I plan to add to with mermaid stuff as well.

I looked up wave breakers once to see what they were even supposed to be, and I found a few images of just huge stacks of them all on top of each other lined along shorelines/beaches. I guess the purpose of them is to prevent flooding or large waves from crashing in? We can't just stack a ton of them in-game though, and they're also expensive to make in terms of stones, so I just put the one I made out on an area of my beach I didn't walk through much

edit: apparently they're called tetrapods, and they're used heavily in some areas of the world, including Japan

Ooh, that's a fun idea! So far my "party beach" consists of just a bonfire, but I think I'll add a cooler and a music player... IDK what else right now.

Ooh, that's a cool idea 😯 Maybe I'll do a temporary lounge until I can get more mermaid furniture! So far I only have a handful of recipes.
My FAVORITE of the recipes so far is the rug, but of course, those can't be placed outside 😒

Ah, thanks for that! Now I can at least look them up, whenever I searched "wave breaker" I got totally different looking stuff 😛 I may just line a couple up on the one rocky piece that's stumping me. If nothing else, I can save 'em for when they're worth extra and sell 'em for a lot of bells.

And I like the idea of private yards, but my beach shapes don't really work well with that, I'm afraid 😕 My two beach houses are on the bottom parts of my beach, far from the rocky parts, and they were a PAIN to get placed right.

I have put fencing on it. I do a lot of online trading, sometimes with multiple visitors at once. I can't keep a good track of more than one person at a time, so I put fencing around my entire island so I don't have to worry about a troll jumping off my airport and swimming all the way to the back without people knowing (because I suspect most people won't care enough to do that).

In the future though, I'll probably decorate it. For now though, I'll just make it impassable to visitors.

I absolutely love the idea of a mermaid cove/ship wreck!

Mine just have ducks chillin on them. I thought about makin one of mine a star viewing area and another a fishing area, like with a stool, fishing rod rack, fish drying rack. Stuff like that.

Yah, that makes sense. So far I've only traded with one person at a time, but I've looked to see where I might put fencing if I ever invite lots of people to my island- I mean, I WANT to trust the community, but...

Oh, man, I'd LOVE if there was a shipwreck item 😲 I have a haunted house up on a hill overlooking the sea, and the idea is that, before the island was settled by these animals, a lighthouse keeper and his wife lived there. The lighthouse keeper went missing one night, and his wife disappeared while looking for them... I'd love a shipwreck to make it spookier!
(p.s. I really love spooky stories, I actually write horror IRL 😛)

But a star area might just be PERFECT for one of mine! I've been wanting to put a telescope somewhere, and it's location would make it IDEAL for watching meteor showers 🤩

I already have a fishing area by my pier- I found a custom path online that made it look like I "extended" the pier into a boardwalk, with multiple stalls that have fish drying racks behind them, and I keep piles of bait on top of them. It's a handy/cute way to store bait in a convenient spot ☺

I really want to as well, but other communities have people who aren't exactly the best people in the world to interact with. The feedback system here is good because it's highly visible and people actually care enough to use it on a regular basis. At the end of the day, if there's anything I can do to make my island more secure from trolls and griefers, I'll do it.

To be honest, I thought it was nice that flowers can't be dug up / destroyed in this game, and that trees can't be chopped down unless you're a best friend. This makes griefing a lot harder, but this update seems to be working in the exact opposite direction of that.

So much softwood to make fences...ugh.

Did the update change anything, other then, I guess, letting people swim around barriers? Which I'm guessing most people wouldn't bother with, but some trolls are tenacious :cautious:

But I don't use any other websites besides this to connect with other players right now, and I do admit the rating system makes me feel A LOT better about it!

I really love how you placed the items and how you used your bells to decorate!

Everyone that have posted, have really nice ideas. :) I need to figure out some better ideas than what I have right now ><.

ty. it was a lot of trial and error. my friend used it with the mermaid set and it came out nice.

So far, I only have a lighthouse and a few wave breakers and seaweed. But with the pirate set, I am actually planning to design a shipwreck at the edge of my island.

I made a tiki bar and restaurant out of two large rocks, with lots of palm tree lights, tiki torches, coconut drinks, a jukebox with K.K. Aloha playing, plus bamboo stools as tables with log stools as chairs. I found a cute tiki drink menu pattern and put that on a sign, and a beer pattern on a simple panel as an advertisement. I also have a stall with a dried grass pattern on it, two stools in front of the "bar," a banana smoothie blender, and a basket of fruit. It's probably my favorite part of my island, though for some reason I don't actually seem to have any pictures of it! I'll try to remember to take screenshots tomorrow.

Now that we have sea creatures, I'm going to turn another rock and part of my beach into an ocean-side sea creature research lab, inspired by this post on Reddit. I haven't decided exactly what items I'll use for it yet, but hopefully it will turn out well! I just caught the final creature I wanted for it (the gigas clam), so I'll start ordering furniture tomorrow.

I have a kind of outdoor spa on my top left rocky beach. My right top is a big moon a telescope and a little ‘wishes’ sign for when there are meteor showers. Peoples rocky beaches seem to be a lot bigger than mine. Plus I still need to decorate my actual beach🤣
