Should I swap out Drift for Jeremiah? Need advice!

Howdy tbt peeps! I don’t normally make posts like these, but I’m thinking of switching up my villager lineup and would appreciate the advice of anyone willing to listen to my ramblings.

I got Drift, the jock frog, from a mystery tour and have never been a huge fan of him. I invited him to the island because my dad, who plays fairly often, likes him. Even though I’m not particularly fond of him, I keep him around mainly for his sake, and because a friend told me that they have a personal connection to Drift.

The frog villager I really like is Jeremiah. I think he’s adorable and I’ve always loved that Three Dog Night song he’s named after! I invited him to my campsite today and he’s even cuter in-person! I would love to invite him to the island, but if use him to replace Drift, then I won’t have a jock villager.

To have all the personalities represented on our island, I’ll have to kick out somebody else, (Probably Murphy or Zucker) and that would mean potentially overhauling large chunks of the island. It would also mean potentially making my dad upset. I already feel kind of bad because I replaced two other villagers he liked with ones that I liked better.

What do you guys think? Is Jeremiah worth all this fuss, or should I just leave well enough alone? Would love to hear your opinions on this!

Are Murphy & Zucker the two villagers that your dad wanted to keep?

maybe you can keep Drift and move out Murphy & Zucker instead so you still have a jock & you already were going to move one of them out if Jeremiah moved in

He likes Zucker, but is indifferent about Murphy. I’m the one who’s kind of attached to Murphy lol. I think the obvious thing to do would be to kick out Murphy for Jeremiah, but then I’d have three frog villagers on the island, which is kind of overkill imo.

oh dang true o: maybe you can compromise with your dad? You replace Drift with Jeremiah and he can replace Murphy with a jock villager of his choice (non-frog lol)

Since they've got different personalities, could you keep Drift and kick out someone else to make room for Jeremiah? I personally find it easier to repeat species rather than personalities because of the dialogue being so similar. I'd say that if you like multiple frog villagers that's fine, there's no "right" or "wrong" number (especially considering that some people have single-species islands). That and you've already got 3 octopus villagers so 3 frogs shouldn't be that much different!

I like Drift’s design more but I think Jeremiah is cute as well. I think you should pick whoever you like more; this is your island and it’d make sense to go with whoever you think you’d enjoy more.

I'd keep Drift. Much more interesting color scheme than Jeremiah.

personally, i love drift, but i think you should just consider which path is more likely to be a thorn in your side. whichever seems the most grating to you to think of: don't do, lol.
i agree w the statement that personalities affect more of gameplay than species, generally, but that's also a personal preference.

I would kick someone else if you are really wanting Jeremiah that badly. You said you already kicked 2 out that your dad really liked and your dad really likes drift.

i’d honestly just have them both. since your dad really likes drift and you’ve gotten rid of other villagers that he likes, i’d just let him have this one and kick out somebody else ;u;

Plus I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having more than two of one species (Arctin has 3 wolves and I plan for Evwirt to have at the bare minimum nine deer.)

Might as well keep both! Nothing wrong with having 2 frogs if you really like them!
