Should I make a bird only island or cat only island?

So I'm getting my own Switch Lite later this week... which will allow me to make a second ACNH island! Originally, I was thinking of making a cat island, because I love so many of the cat villagers. But then I had the idea of making a bird island including all bird species - eagle, ostrich, penguin, duck, chicken, and normal bird. This would be fun because I love birds too, and would give me species variety (which I normally value in my towns) while still sticking to a theme.

I'm having a really hard time choosing... if I did bird island, I'd miss out on so many great cats, plus discarding the ideas I already had for styling a lot of the island... but that idea is pretty overdone, and with birds I'd have a better chance of gathering them myself with so many birds available, and I think some of them are quite underrated...

What do you guys think?

it all depends on what you prefer. it seems you have more ideas for a cat island rn so i would go with that!

I think a bird island would fit the tropical atmosphere of the game and be more unique in general, plus most of the birds/ostriches/etc are super underrated, so I voted for bird island! But if a cat island will truly be easier for you because you have more ideas for it, then go with that.

Cat islands are probably more of a done thing since cat villagers are super popular, but I can't say I've heard of a bird island before! Of course go with the idea that you feel the most connected with! You really can't go wrong either way

Birds have more of a variety, with those different species. That way it's cohesive but not all the same. I suppose cats could include tigers and lions too, but they're not common

I'd vote for bird because there's more variety in the species. It'd also be kinda funny if you had 9 birds and 1 cat haha

its maybe more original to go with bird island but u should go with ur heart.

i think u will have easier time making a bird island since there are so many of them than a cat ones and maybe it is more original but i find cats to be much more cuter and fun to have around.

I think either would be great - a bird island with all the species you listed, or a cat island including tigers and lions. But while I love cats I think the designs for bird villagers are much better so if I had to pick I'd go with bird

Cat towns are pretty common but a way you could possibly make it more "unique" is to fill it with a mix of cats, lions and tigers!

It's your island, your game. No one can truly answer that question for you. Pick the one you like better.

The birds have a ton of variety and are really colourful! The cat villagers are pretty diverse too, but are more "themed" if you're into that.

If I can't make up my mind by the time the Switch Lite arrives, maybe I'll just let the RNG make the decision for me... If I get Katt as my starter uchi first go with cats, if I get Plucky first go with birds

Bird. You have a variety with 6 different species vs 3 different species. It also depends if you are a fan of the Tigers and Lions.

You can also make 1 of each species + the 10th one someone which could fit. So almost half birds and half cats.

Bird island. I remember trying to do a cat and squirrel island in New Leaf and got bored of both quickly.

A bird island would be pretty cool since it's way more unique than a cat island. It would definitely be interesting to see what your final lineup would be on a bird island.

I’m honestly shocked there are so many votes for birds! I think the cat designs are super cute and I literally can barely choose only one for my island (where I prefer not to have repeat species). Plus, kid cat is your icon and truly reason enough alone to have a cat only island LOL

I love the kitty cats but I'd go with the bird island....geez,there's eagles,ducks,regular birds,ostriches,chickens and penguins.That's a lot of villagers to choose from.

Seriously though, I like both species, but I feel like birds would be more varied. Also, you don't see many bird themed islands as compared to all cat islands.

But really, just do what makes you happy!
