What if, instead of real time, an in-game New Leaf day were only 10 minutes long? Every 24 hours, 144 in-game days would pass. How do you think this would affect your playing? I think it'd become real wacky.

I know there are other games that do this, but it wouldn't work very well for Animal Crossing. Part of the appeal of the game is to be able to play in real time and condensing days to minutes would take that away.

I played Harvest Moon A New Beginning. I don't know if the other Harvest Moon games do this, but in ANB, 1 min in-game was 1 second in real life. Meaning 1 hour in-game was 1 minute in real-life, and so on. Being in the menu froze time, but more or less each day took me ~25 minutes to play.

Worked well for a farming game. Would not work as well for Animal Crossing.

i don't think that'd would very well, especially since you wouldn't have enough time to do everything you might need/want to do on a daily basis.

It wouldn't work well. It would be like GTA: San Andreas where every second in real life is a minute in game so some missions would only be available for a minute in real life. Just imagine that in Animal Crossing: having to do chores within a 1 minute time limit otherwise you fail to complete the chore. That would be annoying.

well they could do that if they want but of course they had to create a special game with that time frame in mind
other games works because are developed right to be played that way ^_^

if the new game has still interesting options and features why not?

If I wanted to play a simulation game that had roughly ten minute days, I'd go back to playing The Sims.

Part of the appeal of Animal Crossing is that it plays in real time. If Nintendo ever took that away, that'd be the end of my desire for the series.

That would be kinda weird. It would also take away the charm of the game. For example going to a villagers' house at a set time.

It would be nice if the sunset and sunrise happened at different times depending on the season. It's annoying to play at 6pm when the sun is already down in real life. I couldn't imagine the days happening that quick in game though.

Yeah that's what I thought this thread was about before I clicked. I'd love for this to be a feature, I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement if a timezone option was added on creation of a town.

Otherwise, no I wouldn't like the days to be condensed. The game would lose a lot of appeal for those who enjoy playing on a day-by-day basis, and the option to time travel already exists for those who don't. I think if the days were shorter I would lose motivation to play much quicker, the game would feel more satisfying in the short-term, but not so much in the long-term.
