I have been playing since release day (time travelled a bit when the game came out too, now I play day by day) and I have yet to see a single shooting star or see Celeste. I play at night nearly every day, I've seen Wisp about 3 times. This is really bumming me out seeing everyone with wands and all the cool recipes Celeste gives only to be in the no-fun corner.

Both events are non-related, and Celeste randomly comes out at night, on random nights. If not just experiencing bad luck, it's likely you're missing her when she visits.

I've had her twice since the game's release and each visit, I've had overcast weather in the sky.

It's possible the game decides between her and wisp as a visitor. Just as it does with CJ and Flick.

Yes, for sure I realize they are separate events. I'm just a bit bummed that I've never seen either of them and I just hit 50 in-game days today. My RNG just seems to be spitting in my face, because it's the stuff I want most. :p

Shooting stars can occur without Celeste, but it has to be on a clear night without any clouds (also the stars also slightly twinkle if that helps). For me, I don't see any shooting stars until really late at night at 11:30 PM or 12:00AM.

I've had her 3 times but I've been seeing some shooting stars here and there every night on clear skies, but its when I'm staying up really late.

just chiming in to say that i had both celeste and wisp yesterday (he gave me a mantis model head -_____-)

shooting star evenings i think are just luck, and they happen pretty late in the night (in my experience) so it's possible that you're just missing them. i have had celeste over with shooting stars, as well as without. hopefully you get her soon! i feel this way about flick. everyone i know has had him in town and i haven't yet ; ^;;;;

I've only seen Celeste twice in my 200+ hours. ; v ; And the only time I've had shooting stars was before I met Celeste so my character didn't do anything when I tried to make a wish. OTL

Ha, I was going to say I only see them in the 8-9 or 10 pm range, when I'm focused on Nook Miles Ticket tours and my town chores, so I usually miss the shooting stars I get (I just hear them). At 11 pm-12:30 am or so when I'm wrapping up for the night and think I'll look for some stars, I never seem to find any.

You don't need to have seen Celeste to make a wish. You need to have empty hands and press A when a star is falling, and then it will get bigger and brighter and the next day you'll get a star fragment on your beach. I only got Celeste for the first time the other day but I've caught shooting stars a few times (and heard ones I missed other nights).

that's so weird, i had several shooting star nights prior to meeting celeste (also have only seen her twice in 200+ hours lmao what the heck), and i found lots of fragments on my beach the next morning. funnily enough, i also found a bamboo wand recipe randomly so i had a wand even before i met her.

I have had Celeste twice and have yet to see shooting stars...however; I mainly play my game muted at night because I am answering phones and I play in between calls so it is possible I am missing them because I can't hear them.

That's weird. You should still be able to make a wish even if you haven't met Celeste yet.

I've had a couple of starry nights full of shooting stars before she decided to drop by and I was still able to make plenty of wishes myself. It's best to stand perfectly still with the camera looking toward the sky whenever there's a lot of them. Otherwise, you'd better hope that you're fast enough to pull the camera up again (and that no villagers are nearby for you to accidentally start chatting with them).

I did have empty hands and I pressed A (a few times lol) but there was no kind of animation or anything like that so I just figured it was too early in the game. TT v TT

If you have a friend or know anyone who has Celeste or shooting stars going off on their island, you can visit and get a DIY and some wishes done there all the same! (:

I saw shooting stars before seeing Celeste too. I pressed every button to try and figure out how to make a wish, and nothing worked. It was only after seeing Celeste that it worked for me. So, you're not alone!

So if I wish in your village, the star fragments show up in mine the next day? That's kind of awesome.

Still kind of weird that you two weren't able to make any wishes before meeting her, seeing as it's been that way since the ability to make wishes was added to the series. Maybe it's a bug? The only requirements for making a wish have always been:
  • Keep your hands empty/remove your current tool.
  • Look up at the sky by changing the camera with the right stick (Move it up once or twice, depending on your current camera view). Remain perfectly still to keep the camera that way.
  • Press A as soon as you see a shooting star to make a wish. Repeatedly press A if there are multiple shooting stars in the sky to try and make a wish before they all disappear. If you take too long and the shooting star is about to disappear/almost off-screen, you won't be able to make a wish.
  • It doesn't matter which direction your character is facing as they'll always turn toward the screen whenever you make a wish.

Yep, that's pretty much the gist of it. The only thing that you can only get 1 of per day (regardless of what town you visit) are the recipes that Celeste hands out.

It feels like Celeste's probability of showing up is a lot lower than Wisp's. I've seen Wisp 4 times, but only have seen Celeste twice. Once she showed up for a meteor shower (villagers were talking about it during the day, before it started), but last night she appeared without any notice and there were only a few shooting stars.

In comparison, I've actually been lucky and seen shooting stars at night about every 3-4 nights or so. It's only been a few except for that 1 meteor shower night.

It may be a bug, yeah, because I was doing it exactly like that too. At least it doesn't affect gameplay after meeting her!

Guys! Isabelle said I have shooting stars tonight! What time do they typically start?
