So this is the second time I've had a heavy meteor shower in the month of June, and once again, after the stars started showing up at 7 PM, I was catching a Dorado every few minutes. I caught 3 in one 4-minute interval at one point.

Do shooting stars increase their spawn rate, or have I just been insanely lucky?

Ive found Dorado to be pretty common in general despite being a "rare" fish. Easily caught at least 3 + more for the fish model without even trying.

You were likely just lucky though! Think about it this way. When meteor showers are happening you generally stay outside in game for as long as possible wishing on as many stars as you see. Thusly, since you're out and about, you'll likely found more dorado and other rare fish/bugs.

I catch so many dorado, it's insane, and I've only ever had two meteor showers since april.

wait dorado is a rare fish?

this is news to me i kept catching them with no shooting stars appearing so probably no

Yeah I catch Dorados fairly often as well. Probably the most common 15k fish in the game.

i think it’s just luck - like others, the dorado is pretty common for me, too aha

Just a coincidence, shooting stars are solely for giving you fragments. however, they used to have a luck system in animal crossing new leaf.

I think it’s RNG luck, I’ve caught several dorados which was surprising because I thought they were all gonna be bass.
