The reason going to a college is a really good thing in my opinion is that you learn to live on your own as well as deal with a lot of things.

Besides these shootings can be random the shooters often target someone who made their life miserable, at least in their head.
Exactly -- so how does one know one was not "responsible" for a wacko's "misfortunes"?
Well you can't always but if you are generally a nice and likable person why would they target you?

Either way the social learning in college is pretty important in my mind. I honestly feel that living on my own really helps you see all that your parents did for you even when you didn't notice. You learn what you need to do to live alone in an environment where there is still staff to help you with the adjustment.
Right, but looking at it from a slightly paranoid standpoint... what if they were targeting nice and likable people specifically because they were nice and likable? Like... just taking this hypothetical situation a step further... Say a guy was really troubled. So, naturally, he hated everyone around that exhibited happiness or wasn't shunned by the general community.

Maybe I'm digging too deep. In fact, I definitely am. But I'm just saying, you can never be too certain.

But I agree with you, especially coming from someone that's been homeschooled his entire life -- college is the place for REAL social learning. Not "street smarts" or any of that stuff, but actual survival skills.
Most be who do take part in a shooting are extremely troubled. Take the Virginia Tech incident for examble, the oriental male was shunned upon by most people. He even stalked that one girl and had a restraining order against him. From what I've heard he was the victim of cruel beatings.

None of us can say we wouldn't do what they did. We don't know every standpoint of their life. Their mother could've been a drunk and their father could have beat them. You can't possibly say that, that wouldn't be traumatizing. What if they had a mental illness. Maybe the mother drank while he/she was still in the womb.
The only thing I know for sure is that mental health care is not what it needs to be in this country...

A huge problem with mental health care is it is run in huge part by drug companies, legal ones. In truth more research needs to go into other solutions. Things like your nutrition can greatly affect your mental health but so little research is put into it, or perhaps more counseling services are needed to try and help people solve inner problems better rather than just put them on more drugs. Forget your drugs and bad things can happen, and that shouldn't be what people face really...

It was just on the news that the teacher said that the kid was the last person he's expect to do such a thing.

I'm glad to hear that your brother is safe, Gengar. Hopefully, no one he knew was hurt.

EDIT: I just saw at Kotaku that Jack Thompson is blaming the shooting on video games, for a change *sigh*. Does that guy have anything important to do in his life that is not related to bashing videogames?

I might start jumping on people at school any day now.

He's just taking advantage of this to make more people aware of what he's trying to do.
*CEN-1.3-SORD*.

So is there a final report on injuries/deaths? On the news that we watch at my school this morning they said there were 16 injuries and 6 deaths, and the killer got away...

I wonder why I don't find them reliable?

That might be right...

But the killer didn't get away. Unless by "got away" you mean..."killed himself".

He knew 3 of the victims. And those three died...

I didn't really doubt it until they said "The shooter got away... Police are still looking for him."

So no, they didn't mean "killed himself".
