If that was directed at me, you've mis-read what I typed.Propaganda Man said:Not going to college is absolutely stupid if you are basing it on school shootings.
I've read a couple of posts saying that.Gengar said:If that was directed at me, you've mis-read what I typed.Propaganda Man said:Not going to college is absolutely stupid if you are basing it on school shootings.
I said I was thinking about going with the whole Online-college thing. That's still college.
You've got your opinion, and I've got mine.Propaganda Man said:I've read a couple of posts saying that.Gengar said:If that was directed at me, you've mis-read what I typed.Propaganda Man said:Not going to college is absolutely stupid if you are basing it on school shootings.

Online college should be your last resort really. The same thing applies. You much rather stay in your home than risk someone shooting you at a college.
The reason going to a college is a really good thing in my opinion is that you learn to live on your own as well as deal with a lot of things.Gengar said:You've got your opinion, and I've got mine.Propaganda Man said:I've read a couple of posts saying that.Gengar said:If that was directed at me, you've mis-read what I typed.Propaganda Man said:Not going to college is absolutely stupid if you are basing it on school shootings.

Exactly -- so how does one know one was not "responsible" for a wacko's "misfortunes"?Sporge27 said:The reason going to a college is a really good thing in my opinion is that you learn to live on your own as well as deal with a lot of things.Gengar said:You've got your opinion, and I've got mine.Propaganda Man said:I've read a couple of posts saying that.Gengar said:If that was directed at me, you've mis-read what I typed.Propaganda Man said:Not going to college is absolutely stupid if you are basing it on school shootings.

Besides these shootings can be random the shooters often target someone who made their life miserable, at least in their head.
Well you can't always but if you are generally a nice and likable person why would they target you?Bulerias said:Exactly -- so how does one know one was not "responsible" for a wacko's "misfortunes"?Sporge27 said:The reason going to a college is a really good thing in my opinion is that you learn to live on your own as well as deal with a lot of things.

Right, but looking at it from a slightly paranoid standpoint... what if they were targeting nice and likable people specifically because they were nice and likable? Like... just taking this hypothetical situation a step further... Say a guy was really troubled. So, naturally, he hated everyone around that exhibited happiness or wasn't shunned by the general community.Sporge27 said:Well you can't always but if you are generally a nice and likable person why would they target you?Bulerias said:Exactly -- so how does one know one was not "responsible" for a wacko's "misfortunes"?Sporge27 said:The reason going to a college is a really good thing in my opinion is that you learn to live on your own as well as deal with a lot of things.

Either way the social learning in college is pretty important in my mind. I honestly feel that living on my own really helps you see all that your parents did for you even when you didn't notice. You learn what you need to do to live alone in an environment where there is still staff to help you with the adjustment.
What if a homeless person shot you in your house because he was targeting people in a house? What if was right behind you right now!?Bulerias said:Right, but looking at it from a slightly paranoid standpoint... what if they were targeting nice and likable people specifically because they were nice and likable? Maybe I'm digging too deep. In fact, I definitely am. But I'm just saying, you can never be too certain.
But I agree with you, especially coming from someone that's been homeschooled his entire life -- college is the place for REAL social learning. Not "street smarts" or any of that stuff, but actual survival skills.
