For turnips, I keep it between a few close friends and family. I never go online to hunt for the 500+ turnip price islands. If someone I know happens to have a high turnip price then great, otherwise, no big deal.

I'll pretty much avoid everything. I have a small group of friends that I play the stalk market together with. If none of us happen to get a good price that week, then oh well. I want to unlock furniture, diys, clothing, fossils, bugs, and fish on my own island. There have been exceptions from time to time of course, but I'm generally keeping to myself for those things. I'm part of a wonderful group of friends where we'll water each other's flowers to help grow hybrids, so I'd say that's just about the one main online interaction I do with others.

Though I am a bit unsure as to why nook mile items are even an option up there considering you have to trade with other people to get different colorations. There is no "oh no, I'm not trading for those, I'm going to unlock them all myself". Trading is 100% required to get those.

Everything I can earn is off limits, but I have no problem trading for items I missed or going to other islands for shopping, turnips and DIYs.

I might make an exception for Art because having this empty section is no fun.

I am stubbornly insisting on growing my own flowers. Anything for the museum has to come from my island or a mystery tour, although I will buy fake art from friends. Seasonal items and K.K. music I also want to get on my own.

I haven't done much in the stalk market, but I would sell on a friend's island. There are a small group of us who visit to check shops, NPCs, and water flowers. Most of my play is done solo on my own island, though.

This is interesting - I forgot one of the big ones though: villagers! I don't go online for those either.

Some people chose it though, which is interesting. Maybe it's more - I'm going to decorate my island with the colours I got and not try to find the perfect colours? That's what I did as I didn't want to go online before. But now I've changed my mind!

ah yes, that makes sense in that case! Simply choosing to decorate with whatever the game gave you. There was no way I was putting that bright yellow lighthouse on my island though, it wouldn't have gone with my theme at all~ =p I absolutely traded for a different color

I think I have done most of the things on that list, and I don't mind it :> With that being said, I've barely done anything with my island, so I don't really feel like I'm cutting the lifespan of the game, at least for right now C:

I mainly trade for diy recipes because those are just a nightmare to collect by yourself.

I guess you could say that for art as well but for some reason I don't really mind that taking a very long time.

I will pretty much do any online trade.
I wont do seasonal because im not in a rush to complete my town and also I want to experience it for the first time naturally (unless the season/event has passed and then I would resort to trading for it if it's something I really want)

My flowers, bugs, fish and seasonal items/DIYs are 100% my island.

I got one fossil online, but that was circumstantial on a visit for Celeste when someone had free items laid out on the beach. I go online to sell my one load of turnips each week and will continue to do so until I have about 10 mil in the bank, then I'll settle for small stakes and my own island prices. I've done a couple online trades for items, whether buying or cataloguing.

I travel mostly for Celeste, Redd, meteor showers, or specific DIYs I'm after.

i don't do fossil or real art trading. if i do buy art, it would only be fake and purely for decoration purposes. i did get one fossil online but that was also for decoration outside my museum. i also don't go online to hunt for other seasonal items as well as bug and fish, just cause i want to experience it myself naturally.

i don't really fish/catch bugs on other people's islands. for me, it's kinda pointless since i'm not in a "rush" to finish my museum. i only really buy art from others just so i can decorate my island (i only go for the fakes), so i'm hoping to get the genuines on my own. as for seasonal events/diys, i rather wait until the event is available in my own time. i like having something to look forward to when the season changes.

but i feel like it's more necessary to go online for everything else. you can't complete your catalogue alone and you can't get other flowers/fruits alone (at least at the beginning of the game).

I prefer to not to catch fishes and bugs on other islands unless I am having like a fun, competition with my friends or something (our own version of mini games lolol). As for fossils, I don't go on other islands to look for fossils or to purchase or trade for fossils either. I mostly like to go online to trade for items I don't already have or to catalog. The only items I won't trade for are seasonal and event items because I would like to try to get them for myself. I feel like it's more fun for me that way :)

The trading is part of the game. If you enjoy it and makes you look forward to playing the game, why not? I'm assuming you and your husband have different switches/island? If that's the case, he can playing his own way and you can play your own way. Even being part of this forum community is somewhat part of the game and I'm all for it.

I'll trade almost anything except seasonal items and mum's gifts, which I want to experience as I find them naturally in my game with no time travel. So far I have not traded for real paintings and I was able to finish my fossil collection on my own just now! For most things, once I get too sick of searching on my own I'll buy them online.

I trade pretty much everything, but I don’t like to buy things for the game with tbt. 🤷‍♀️

I've traded only DIY's and Nook Mile items.

- All the flowers on my island are grown by me.
- I've never caught bugs & fishes elsewhere
- I've finished my fossil's collection only by myself
- I don't do Stalk market at all : earning money is too easy in this game imo
- I don't want to ruin my game by having all the seasonal DIYs before the schedule

It's so sad to see those players who have finished all their collections 2 months after the launch of the game. It's not my way of playing.

For stuff I can collect pretty easily or in a not too long amount of time in my own game I don't go online for it. If I find myself getting frustrated trying to do something on my own, I have no problem trading for/buying it, since I don't like my games to feel like work.

For me, I try to fill my museum with only things found on my island. I think its more fun that way and encourages me to keep playing the game long term, instead of try to rush and complete my museum right away.
