"Series rooms are boring" Discuss. ^^

Well, you do you. I personally like the series because I like the things that match. I add little details to make it more unique, and it's also about how you arrange it, as well. But I also really like the people who are creative enough to completely redesign. I just don't have the patience/ability to do it myself, unless it's in HHD.

series rooms can be boring, but I don't see them as a terrible thing.
I do think the series are a little repetitive with having like, a dresser and closet item, and so on. so that's why I dislike series personally, but I enjoy when other people make use of them.
the fantastic thing about New Leaf is the customization options. so you can use a series of furniture but still make it really unique!

yea they are boring. With that said, all my rooms are series rooms with a little bit mixed in so.. whoops.

I find them quite blah and boring, I'd rather be creative and do my own thing rather than being awarded HHA points for everything "matching". It seems kind of silly to reward sameness rather than uniqueness. I honestly don't see the point in it at all.

I've always thought it was super unoriginal to just plop all the items in a series in one room, even if the carpet and wallpaper is different. It's more interesting to mix them up or even pair two sets together. I mixed regal and rococo together in my main room, so it still has a theme but they complement each other and it's not just "oh, there's the rococo stuff again. Yawn."

I personally don't care for them too much, but I think most of us are guilty of using series rooms before, at least just for the HHA badges. I don't really care about the badges anymore, so I'm focusing on making my homes look more like modern houses (or themed homes for my alts). Honestly, having a unique house is more important to me than each room having a different series. But that's just me. To each their own, I guess.

I use series rooms as a jumping off point for decorating my houses. I'll get all the pieces, then add/subtract/rearrange pieces as I see fit, add some decorations, customize the furniture and bang! decorated room.

I am currently remodeling my house, I originally had two series rooms but I'm going to make it 0. :D The sets I had just appealed to me back in 2013 but now I dislike them. Not because I find them boring or unoriginal, not at all! It's just that a series room no longer appeals to me because of the furniture it consists of? Does that even make sense? Like I really don't want a bed and a couch and a table with one chair, it looks a bit odd to me.

To be honest my favourite rooms have a hidden meaning. In my study I have a poster of Enjolras from Les Mis?rables, but that's not the only thing. I also have the 'Liberty Leading the People' painting, which was a painting of the July Revolution, two years before the June Rebellion that Les Mis is about. It was painted around that time too so it's something the students in Les Mis could have seen and been inspired by. I used the common chair (customize red) and simple love seat because they are 'common' and 'simple' and well, red, for the people.

In my basement I have a Nautical theme because I adore ships and I've spent many days on them, at sea... The layout however is based on my friend's basement where we used to hang out and watch movies, so this room is really special to me personally. <3

I'm on both sides of the argument.
While I agree that series rooms leave less room for creativity, sometimes there is just something so satisfying about having your entire room match.

Using sets is a very easy way to make your room look uniform, and I like that. You could definitely be more creative and introduce non-set items to the room, but that doesn't look as nice unless the colors match up. It's hard to match up colors between different non-related items.

Idk. I prefer to use sets.

I'm currently only trying to do series rooms to get all the golden exteriors in the HHA, but once I get all those I already have a few rooms planned that aren't series rooms. Like I'm gonna have a weapon and hospital room and an arcade for sure.

I remember having all series rooms when I was still working for HHA points towards my gold badge. I've been redecorating quite a bit and I have 2 rooms completely done so far. I find that creative rooms often grab my interest a lot more.

When the game was released, I used series furniture for fellow streetpass people to be able to order items they don't have (and HHA, I suppose). Now, I try to go for a theme. Current theme is Hogwarts (with the library, great hall, divination room, potions lab, griffindor dorm, and normal classroom)

While set rooms aren't entirely my taste, I don't feel like I can say they're boring because some people really enjoy hunting down every piece of a series and showcasing that. I do some series rooms in my house, but they're often mixed with miscellaneous pieces that I feel go well with the set.

I started out with series rooms just until I got my gold badge and am now in the process of hunting down individual pieces to mix and match. Some, like the minimalist series, look good with just about anything and I use them more often than theme/color-specific series like creepy, lovely, etc.

I love to do series rooms to start with (currently just have one room and its basically devoted to the Mush series,) or just have one room devoted to! I already have the rest of the rooms decided, but I sometimes leave the main room my [insert easiest to get] series room tbh

Yeah, there's less variety and creativity that goes into assembling an all one series room. But some series (like the lovely series, ahhhh my fav) look fine, or even great without anything extra added.

In the beginning I did have the whole set in each room for the points and than I quit.
They should have had a kitchen set/bathroom set for each theme. A bed doesn't need to be in those rooms.
This year I cleared out some rooms. The mayor now has her kitchen, bathroom and nice front sitting room with a fireplace.

In my other town I already had theme rooms. One is a Campus College house with a library and 7-11 store.
Some players house still have the full sets but I mixed other items to change the room. The dango that looks like snowballs went in the Icy Room.

With the new Saniro and amiibo cards coming out I have a lot of new stuff to play with. Plans for a gardening room and a knitting/sewing room.

How are we defining series rooms? Just one of each piece in a series and nothing more? I use sets along with other pieces but I've gotten nothing but positive feedback for my house. Is a non-series room just a mitch match of sets and other pieces?
