Hey, got a couple o’ questions. I’m thinking about making a second character for my island so I can make a certain design I’m trying to work on. So I just wanna know, do the players share a Critterpedia? Like, I’ve caught 79 out of 80 bugs and fish, so will that completion also be shared onto my second character? Will my second character also have all the stinkin’ DIYs I’ve learned by now? Or are we a whole new character in everything but the island since Nintendo just didn’t want us to have more than one island per console?

Just a general overview would help :)

So what I have found so far- is that a new character doesn't share anything from the first EXCEPT patterns!

Unfortunately the player characters all share design slots :'( otherwise I would have made loads of them

I don’t think they do! When I catch fish with my second character that I already have caught with my main it comes up with the “yes!” message as if it is the first time. You don’t share an ABD, nook miles, etc, so I don’t think you share critterpedia either!!

Dang, well that blows a little :/ Well, thanks for the info, y’all :) I hadn’t even thought about using multiple characters for multiple design patterns, either, that would’ve been so useful XD

I've made multiple players in my own island because I was not only running out of storage space for all the stuff I wanted to hoard, but I was also needing extra buildings for the urban theme I was going for on half my island. I can tell you that you don't share anything other than patterns with your other characters, so any pattern you replace or delete with an alternate character will affect you main character. Also, you can't move any buildings other than your home or add/remove ramps and bridges with any secondary characters other than your mc.

Otherwise your museum will still be at the same % completion

I'd be a little worried if my museum suddenly emptied out whenever the second character approached. Like, Blathers sees them approaching and immediately begins shuffling all bugs, fish, fossils and art pieces into his storage room and just goes "Hoot hoot, n-no, we don't have much in the museum right now... I do hope you'll donate some artifacts, if you find some!"

Now I'm picturing Blathers actually saying this 😂

On the plus side, additional characters have their own money holes, DIY bottles, and ability to get items from Gulliver/Redd :D

Ohhh interesting. So, like, if I play as my Player 1, will I see two bottles spawn on the beach or do I have to select my second player for the second bottle to spawn?

the second bottle will only show up after you play as your second character. You don’t have to pick it up though, if you leave it there you can pick it up as your main character. It’s the same with star fragments if you have a meteor shower. Both characters can make 20 wishes and the stars will wash up for each of them when you sign in, but again, you can leave the fragments on the beach and pick up as your main character.

Hmm, yeah. I guess I'm gonna go for it, then. Worst case scenario, is there a way to make a character move out? ô_o

Yes you can get rid of them if you don’t want them. When playing as the second character, on the home screen you press the - button to go to settings and Nook will give you some options on how to do it. you click “save settings” and then “delete resident registration”. Make sure you read everything carefully so you don’t accidentally delete your island.
