Scorpion glitch?

I just had a scorpion I was chasing get frozen by a tree. It was shaking in place back and forth like it was scared, but never moved out of that spot. Is this a glitch as well? I caught it no problem.

It was. At first I thought it was charging up getting ready to attack but then it kept going, so I just walked up to it lol.

They often do things like this. It's also common for them to commit suicide by jumping on the water or to keep running endlessly while facing a cliff, as if they would magically dig a hole there.

Scorpions and tarantulas are very erratic and their behavior is kinda glitchy

Literally the first ever tarantula I saw committed suicide and when my friends told me they run up and attack you I was like ????? I completely agree that their behaviour is kinda wonky at times

my thing is hunting scorpions/tarantulas on random islands by removing everything from the island and depositing everything on the beach *this works best if the island doesnt have two levels*; but on the two level islands ive noticed two things about them. 1 is that they will 'glitch' just like yours did into a cliff, but theyre still active and can and will bite you even if you cant catch it and 2 they will literally RUN at the shore to get away from you if youve caught a decent number of them already LOL! its actually pretty funny. if youre not holding a net they wont attack you though. that seems to help matters

Another bug that has a similarly erratic behavior is the Tiger Beetle. Although they're easier to catch than tarantulas and scorpions (due to them not being able to attack you) they do exactly the same thing as these two.

I walked up to it normally and caught it.

Sometimes my scorpions just kinda......fade away or fall into nearby water. I don't know what to call it.

Just bad AI/patching. Like when butterflies and dragonflies get stuck on bridges or buildings.
