Saving Villagers - Haven't logged ACNL in over a month.

Title is pretty much self explanatory. I haven't logged in forever and I'd like to know how to save my villagers.

I've heard you can make a new character but how does that work? Wouldn't I have to log my mayor save file to change the time...?

If you change the 3DS clock back a month then the AC clock will go back the same amount

You can make a new character, yes. You don't have to go on your mayor to change the time, either, you can do that through the DS clock. The game saves itself when you load your mayor or an established character, so making a new character allows you to check your town without it being saved.

Basically, make a new character and go through the set up process with Rover and everything. Upon arrival, check your map to see if anyone's houses are gone. Then, go around and see if any villager inside of their house is in boxes.

If anyone of importance is gone or in boxes, exit to the home menu without saving, and close New Leaf. Go into your DS clock through settings and turn the time back like a week or a few days or so. Go back into the game and make another new character and check again.

Once you make sure everyone is there and accounted for, go ahead and enter the game through your mayor.

You can also just turn back the clock to the last day you played if you want to TT through all the time you missed.
