is there any possibility to still find these? if so, where o.o.

i really want them to get some of the villagers but idek how to hehe.

I'd try some Japanese auction (or maybe Rakuten, Yahoo JP shopping sites), although they can take pretty good scalper prices there too. I haven't really scanned the market for the EU ones and whatnot but yeah, be prepared to pay unless you get really lucky.

I used a shopping service myself for a japanese auction to get them and yeah they will probably be $80-$120 unless you get really lucky and find them cheap there or maybe eBay.

I bought Etoile from Ebay, then bought a full, fan-made set on Etsy for around $40.
Beautifully made, and work like the real deal.

I've seen some scalpers selling single cards on Ebay these days, for over $200. O_O

Yeah, fan-made might be an option too if they pull prices too high on the official ones. I got the official ones since, well I had money then and I really wanted the cards for villagers and furniture sets and yeah I don't wanna wait like 3 months if they can't offer good shipping.

Any amiibo card is likely going to be sold by a scalper; cheapest Skye I could see was 15 dollars.

Does the etsy fanmade cards (not only sanrio) actually works in the game ??
I've seen few of these, especially season 5 and I was wondering if they worked for real or not.

They have an NFC tag attached for that character. ^_^

Can confirm the fan-made Sanrio cards work like a charm. I also bought mine from Etsy. I went ahead and bought fan-made 50 WA + 6 Sanrio cards. Aside from some minor graphic differences and the back of the card not looking the same, it works just like the real cards. Much more affordable :)

I bought New Leaf around July of last year, so amiibo cards of popular characters are rare and expensive. I'm glad I found and bought the alternative from Etsy, because no way am I paying so much for my dreamies/the Sanrio set. I did buy genuine cards, but locally some scalper came and bought literally every pack at Black Friday (in addition, I was having trash luck with them).

The downside is that they're a bit flimsy compared to the real thing, but they work just fine and I have no qualms about authenticity; I just want the rewards!

I made them myself (although not very good looking lol)

I did it by buying 25 NTAG215 tags/cards on amazon for about $17 (MUST be NTAG215) and loading amiibo card data onto them using an android device with NFC capabilities (like samsung phones and tablets).

Here is more info about homemade amiibos
Here is where I found the AC amiibo data.
Here is the cards I used.

How have they become so expensive? Last year, I bought the real EU ones for only $40 on eBay (and I already thought it was a rip-off at that time).

I paid $15 for my real Etoile on Ebay, it was from France.

Now they are $200!!! :-/

That's why I opted for the fan-made set.

Wow. I paid ?11 for the UK pack of all six Sanrio cards and felt ripped off.

I'd go for fan made at this point of time, the prices of the genuine cards is just too high.
I wish Nintendo would print more - too silly for words, they & us miss out.

I would love to increase my WA series cards - I have a lot of gaps, but I can't find fan made cards in the UK (I haven't made an exhaustive search tho) - the postage from the US is just over ?10 - per card? Maybe/maybe not, but it makes the cost just too high again.
Trade is the other option, if players are still trading.

I paid $12 for one pack which isn't too bad since it's the price + $6 shipping. I ended up getting two packs for myself and a friend. I think for anyone looking now, it might be better to get fan made or trade. Outright buying authentic Sanrio cards at this point is bad since they cost an arm and a leg and maybe even a kidney.

If people are looking for regular WA cards, amiami usually have a small stock every now and then so you can grab if don't mind em being Japanese...

Because they made them extremely limited edition and only in EU and JP areas from what I've seen so yeah people ofc scalp them like every other rare item out there
