Salt on Watermelon?

For some reason the flavour and scent of melon makes me want to retch and throw up, generally I'm a fruit loving person but for some reason I can't stand melon...
I guess salt might make it taste a bit better but I still won't try it

I don't like melon or the smell either.

Interesting, I'll have to try this the next time I have watermelon. I love it when I learn something from Animal Crossing.

I was pretty far into adulthood before hearing about this habit, and one of my former managers all but forced me to try it. She meant well, but I thought it was super disgusting! (I love watermelon, and I also crave salty foods nonstop, so you'd think I would like this. Noooooo.)

Edited to add, since this is being discussed also: See, now I could eat tomatoes with salt all day long.

I've tried it before! It's good stuff but not much better than plain watermelon imo

Ohhh. I'm about to run to the grocery store, maybe I'll pick up some watermelon and try this tonight!

Hmmm... I think I'll give it a go. I've heard of salt on grapefruit too, but never have tried it.

Okay, I just got home from the grocery store and decided to try it while my pizza is baking. All I have to say is: I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN DOING WATERMELON WRONG ALL MY LIFE.

It is SO SO good. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it, but it brought out the flavor more, which was good, because the watermelon I bought wasn't that sweet and I wouldn't have enjoyed it that much how I normally eat it.

Yeah, that would definitely catch me off guard. I prefer the sweetness of the watermelon. No salt for me.

^ yep!

if you look through many dessert recipes, they will oftentimes tell you to add a small amount of salt. it won't taste salty, it just balances out flavors and enhances others!

ive never heard of doing this but I know I will try in the morning, lmao. watermelon has always been one of my top three fav foods, let's see if it makes it better >;3c

When I put salt on my watermelon I could taste the salt but it wasn't salty. My mother said that back home in the Philippines they did that. Eating watermelon and mangoes with salt! I already knew about eating mangoes with salt (and shrimp paste!) but not with the melons.

Are you suppose to wait for the salt to dissolve or something??
