[td]wow look another post

I was talking to Molly for, I don't know, the billionth time today and she was telling me a cute story about how summer time makes her think of when her dad would bring home a watermelon (okay, this is fine), and put it in the fridge to cut into slices (delicious), and then sprinkle salt onto to eat (wait wha-?)

I can't say I'm judging, but it did catch me off guard. I was following what she was saying right up until then.

Actually, sprinkling a little salt on melons is pretty common and so, so good. It really brings out the sweetness of the fruit and I highly suggest trying it before knocking it! :)

Ah I've not ever heard of doing this! :3

I wasn't saying I'm not open to trying it, I just meant it caught me off guard as it is a new concept!

Thanks for the explanation! (^▿^)/

it does make it really sweet haha. its soo good with salt, when i do it i cant even taste the salt its just sweet :)

Wow, I had no idea this was a thing! Sounds interesting but I am a bit scared to try it

For some reason the flavour and scent of melon makes me want to retch and throw up, generally I'm a fruit loving person but for some reason I can't stand melon...
I guess salt might make it taste a bit better but I still won't try it

Sprinkling salt and chili on pineapple is also delicious, although I've never done it on watermelon.

I've actually never heard of this either! I want to try it out now after hearing everyone talk about it.

My husband loves salt on watermelon, tomatoes as well. I have never had the nerve to try it. To me, watermelon is perfect just the way it is. Then I think to myself. "Self, what if it's TEN THOUSAND times better WITH salt?" But yep, nope. No can do. It's just to much of a leap of faith for me, LOL!

this made me giggle. i can't try it either, there's just something about adding saltiness to a super sweet fruit that scares me...
i showed this to my mum and now she's trying it, and i'm planning on watching her reaction. but she always puts salt on EVERYTHING while i'm a plain girl P: yeah today isnt a leap of faith day!! c:

A sprinkling of salt and chili on fruits is great, imo. Sometimes add lime or lemon juice too (it's a different lemon that we have where I live than the yellow ones and the limes are different too). I was taught to sprinkle salt on tomatoes and apples as well. I think maybe bananas I wouldn't add that too, except maybe the chili.

It will make the watermelon taste sweeter, so if you have a watermelon that is not very sweet you should try it!
I'm from Greece and a lot of people eat their watermelon together with feta cheese but I always hated that combination. I like salt much better but if the watermelon is already sweet enough I eat it as it is.

Oh gosh I didn’t know there were people eating watermelon without salt. If you haven’t tried it and you’re a fan of watermelon, it’s an absolute must try!! It’s going to take your melon experience up a level!

gosh, i hadn't ever thought about this before but it sounds so good; i'll try it next time i have watermelon!

ugh I have seen my mom eating watermelon with salt a several times and it kinda annoys me cause I'm the one who enjoys it just the way it is. I have tried it with salt as an accident you can say LOL. I accidentally picked up my mom's plate of watermelon and took a bite into one and it was horrible for me xD

watermelon on its own = acceptable, perfectly fine
salt with watermelon = lol what

maybe actual ducks secretly like to eat watermelon and salt instead of being fed stale bread, woAh
