Gintama. Most people know of it as a shounen parody, but when the animators want you to feel sad, you become a sobbing mess.
I think it's brilliant in it's ability to evoke emotion so seamlessly in such a small and set amount of time.

clannad AS is the only sad anime that made me cry. ive watched others like anohana, your lie in april, air and plastic memories and they didnt even make me cry.

the only anime off the top of my head i feel like made me cry was chuunibyou demo koi ga ****ai! mainly because i was deeply attached to the characters. definitely not the saddest, though.

Angel Beats was sad as heck as well. Guilty Crown and Tokyo Ghoul really made me tear up bad too.

Clannad AS was the saddest of the series but had the worst ending lmao I still cry like a baby at episode 18 tho
Ano Hana had me crying to much that when I got to the last episode my sadness reached such a high level I didn't even cry and my emotions passed through a non-existential boundary. Basically, I couldn't cry for some reason but I was really sad.

Kobato's ending had me crying too.

Clannad After Story will always be the saddeat anime of all time.

It took me weeks to get over it and I still cant listen to most of the OST without beginning to cry. What a powerful anime. Truly a masterpiece.

I voted for AnoHana because it's the only anime I've watched out of the 4 choices. But still, it's pretty darn sad. I still can't get over it. Other than that I think the animes that had made me cry the most were Naruto and One Piece. They have their sad moments.
