So, many people lately have been talking about how Rune Factory is better than Harvest Moon because you can do more. I want to see how many people actually prefer Rune Factory over Harvest Moon.
I currently prefer Harvest Moon, but I've never seen any walkthrough for Rune Factory yet so I can't really say.
i like rune factory a lot better since it isn't as repetetive as harvest moon and there's much more dialogue and the characters are better. also i love the battle aspect of rf
I picked both. I like Rune Factory because of the graphics, characters and varied gameplay. Then again I've been playing Harvest Moon since I was about 6, so it has a special advantage when it comes to deciding which one I like better (That made no sense at all).
Based on those I played (I played 4 Harvest Moon and 3 Rune Factory), I prefer Rune Factory. It has indeed more things to do. I also prefer the characters and art.
A few weeks ago I would have said harvest moon. Now after getting addicted to RF4 thanks to a friend, I'm not so sure.
My main reason for playing HM was to farm and take care of my pets. I have always hated having to talk to my villagers. I found them boring and it has been a chore in HM. After I woo and marry someone I usually get bored. It becomes repetitiveness of farm veggies, care for live-stock, talk to the living furniture you married, then talk to boring villagers. Don't get me wrong I do like HM.
I was really unsure of RF until a friend introduced me to it. I like the conversations a lot more in RF then HM. I also like battling and raising my parties levels. Like someone already mentioned less repetitive and better characters.
For me, Rune Factory has everything I enjoy: dungeons, crafting and dating. While Harvest Moon is cute and enjoyable, without a combat system I end up getting bored since my character never has kids with her spouse.
I voted for Harvest Moon, mainly because I've been a fan since the Nintendo 64 and most of the rest of the series. I've actually been debating to buy either A New Beginning or Rune Factory 4. Probably buying Harvest Moon pretty soon, but I'm sure I'll end up buying both anyways.
