Rumors of someone moving!

Hey guys, so I was told that when someone is leaving, you might get told by a villager you're close with, or in speaking terms with, whatever, well can someone tell me why I was told by villager I just got yesterday? Also, it was the first time speaking to him so how come I was informed by him and not another villager whom I am close to? Maybe the people who told me this were lying? please confirm, fam?

I know they don't lie, I was talking about the people (real life people) who told me that you only get told of a moving villager by another villager you're close with. I was asking whether they are lying or not as I was told of a moving villager by another villager i'm NOT close with.

Anyone can tell you who is moving. Your friendship level doesn't matter. It's best to talk to who is moving right now, because if you don't they will leave.

I've always taken from what I've read across the boards, that any villager can tell you that another villager is thinking of moving.

You need to talk to the villager you have been told is moving - to get the moving speech from them, they have to ping you - if you initiate the talk I don't think they will tell you, they have to ping you.
If they don't mention moving, save and reload & try again.

My experience is I can get this moving ping with an alt as well as the Mayor - but then I use the alts in play, they talk with the villagers & have some sort of friendship level with them.

Once they mention they are thinking of moving you can ask them to stay or let them go.

No one is lying, players are sharing their experiences of the game. We haven't got access to the underlying code so we learn and share about the game as we go along.
