rugs on outdoors. who likey?

For the amount of rugs we have in game, it doesn't really make sense to have them all be inside.

I heard in HHD you could place them outside but my memory is blurry. Might boot up the game to confirm but if they have it in HHD they should bring it to NH as well

hhd definitely had rugs outdoors!! one of the very first rugs you unlocked in it was a stone path rug too like they Wanted you to mess around with placing them outdoors.

man i sorely wish there was a way to enter "decorating mode" or whatever it's called while outdoors on your island. i remember one of the very first things i felt frustrated about in NH was on day 2 or 3 of playing and i learnt that there was no way to center a flower vase in the middle of the 2x2 stone table. seriously!!!! i get that it's probably impractical if even possible but....come on nintendy i just want my dream island with rugs and centered flowers

4 square tables outdoors look nice but are a nightmare for decorating outside if you want to put anything besides two table settings on it! xD

I would love it if they made a compromise and added a separate "picnic rug" item that was useable outside and that items could be placed on top of. Alternately, it would be interesting if they made it so certain rug types (large kilim, persian, shaggy, etc) were useable on hard path surfaces like wood, stone, brick, but not on grass, dirt, sand.

On a similar note, I want some sort of apparatus that would allow the placing of wall-mounted furniture outside. I’d love to place some double-sided wall clocks in some areas of my island!

I'm absolutely shocked it isn't possible. It was possible in HHD and Pocket Camp for goodness sake, but not in the main game??

I agree entirely! I was really surprised about the furniture customization things that didn't carry over from HHD, especially the rugs outside. There are only so many places I can put a rug inside my house before it starts looking ridiculously cluttered!

me likey! i definitely agree it should be a thing in new horizons! i wasted 3 of my qr code slots just to make a picnic blanket for a space that felt way too empty to leave it at that and i'd love to have it replaced by an actual rug one day.

when i first saw the mom’s cool kitchen mat, i really wanted to put it outside my door like a placemat and so i was really disappointed when i found out that rugs couldn’t be placed outside. it’s not a big deal and i was able to implement the mat indoors and while it’s not a feature i’m yearning for, it would be a cool feature to have ;;

I have soo many rugs and not enough rooms for them all. I would love to put rugs outside. It would be great for creating flea markets and picnics. If it was allowed in a previous game I wonder why it’s not allowed in this one

you're so right. i never even thought of that, but i do get annoyed of how they fill so much room in my storage and it's not like i can make use of them! most of those color coordinated rugs are too out of place for my home, but i can see them being of use outside.

Im really surprised that we can't put rugs outside. Since we can now put furniture outside like in Happy Home Designer, I assumed we could do rugs too now. Maybe we can't because it would be hard to move them without the "editing" screen? Idk, but I really wish they would find some way to add this, it would be amazing
