Well, in the video we see Rover on a myster island next to a campfire like all villagers you find on tours.....Just saying it might happen.

If it does what personality should he have? I would go with Lazy personally. I think it's a great fit for him.

I don't think it will happen personally.
Given he's on the may-day event island that would mean everyone who is at full capacity and doesn't have someone moving out during that would be locked out of getting him.

Even if they gave him a chance to appear full time on islands it would still feel very weird to me. I feel slapping one of the personality types on him would kind of kill the character since it gets rid of the personality and history he had in previous titles. At that point he would no longer be any different than every other villager in a certain personality group.

I guess the thought of NPCs suddenly being normal villagers just doesn't work for me.

I do think a fun idea could be look-alikes for old NPCs as villagers. Maybe for example Rover but with a different face or colours.

It would be cool if he got his own store for silly things or whatever. Or maybe he can open up new things for the island?

Hmm, I personally don't think he'll be a villager but it's an interesting thought! I'd say he'd be a smug villager but to be honest I don't think any of the personality types fit him 100%.

I have my doubts he would be a villager, honestly I don't want that to happen because imagine the prices he would go for on here? insane

Most likely he's just the host for May Day. I'd hate for them to turn NPCs into regular villagers. None of the villager personality types fit in with his already establish character, maybe the closest would be Normal if it wasn't genderlocked.

Okay, that would be SO cool though! It's a shame there isn't a more neutral male personality but I agree, I think lazy fits the best.

Yeah, he's probably just a visitor for May Day. It'll be so nice to visit him, though!

I agree with everyone saying that assigning him a default personality would ruin his pre-existing characterization. And honestly, lazy seems like one of the worst offenses to me; sure, if it were just chill and fun-seeking that’d be fine, but especially in NH it’s also extremely childish. I can’t imagine him acting like he’s an elementary schooler—he always gave me mature and clever vibes.

I think he's most likely an NPC, and honestly it would rub me the wrong way to have Rover just spitting out the default dialogues of the personalities.

I would hate for him to become a villager because none of the available personalities for male villagers suit him, in my opinion.

TBH, I wish that NPCs could have more presence in our villages.

Imagine if occasionally you could see Timmy or Tommy walking around the village. You interact with them and they say "Oh, hello! I'm on my break. My brother is watching the shop."

It would be cute to be able to have villagers with unique personalities. And Rover could be his own unique personality. I'm not saying this would be useful for all NPCs, but it would be cute

i doubt he’s going to be a villager. he’s likely just the npc for the may day event
