So I have three rooms in my house: living room (fully expanded), kitchen (left side, mid-size), and upstairs bedroom (fully expanded). My problem is that I'm stumped on what other rooms to include in my house. I don't really care to make a bathroom, but other than that I'm open to suggestions.

The only ideas I've even considered are a basement that looks truly like a cluttered basement and an attic of a similar tone. I'd rather do one or the other. My house is pastel-themed and cutesy, I suppose, so maybe it'd fit...?

What rooms did you guys make in your homes? What ideas have you been bouncing around?

Rather than a cluttered basement, why not try a classy or minimalistic basement for get togethers and parties? I've seen cluttered basements everywhere (including in my own town) so it's always cool to see someone that does the complete opposite.

i have three towns.

in clarity, here are the rooms i have:

main room: cute little girly/food themed cafe
back room: inspired by melanie martinez's 'pity party'
left room: doll garden
right room: mermaid + fish set with misc island items
upstairs: pastel kiddie set
downstairs: teddy bear winter playground

in cloudluv:

in the mayor's house, i'm going to have 5/6 of the sanrio items, mixed with other items (my melody + pink sloppy, kiki and laia + mermaid, etc), i'm not sure what to put in my basement yet

in my second character's house, i'm going to have the following:

main: sweets room
back room: garden shop
left: kitchen
right: kids room/kindergarten classroom
upstairs: dream bedroom
downstairs: animal room

and finally, in wintry:

main: ice set + misc items
back room: jingle set + misc items
left room: winter-themed ice-cream shop
right room: snowman set + ski set
upstairs: new years party
downstairs: cozy little cafe

hope this helped to maybe give you some ideas lol

Ooo, what about a Game Room like AppleBitterCrumble combined with a classy hang-out spot? That sounds really cool, wow, I'm already getting such great ideas from you guys! Thanks for that.

Any other room ideas people have or rooms they've done that they like in particular?

EDIT: oh my gosh, harlequin! Those are also some incredible ideas, I love how everything has a noticeable theme too. See, I wish I had everything planned out that way. :D

Here's what I have for Riri's house (It's super Kawaii) you can also visit my DA to get a better idea of the room:

Main room: Rococo series refurbished to gothic white (Gives off a pink color), chocolate cake, Stale Cupcakes, Wobbleina, Pink Carnation, Trellis refurbished to pink flowers, Casablanca lilies, Fire place.
Basement: Meadow picnic
Top floor: Kawaii Cafe
Back room: Mermaid beach
Left room: Hair salon
Right room: Nursery/kid room

Ooo that sounds very pretty. I love the Roccoco series, so versatile. I just might visit your DA indeed, because it sounds a lot like what I'm going for.

Bathroom, back yard, and basement with the sloppy series are my rooms (that you don't already have). Maybe a specific furniture set could be a room them? I thought aboout having a sweets room but instead I added sweets items into my kitchen!

at first, i planned to make a pretty conventional house (with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, etc.), but as i decorate more and more, i've slowly made my rooms more unique! for example, i have four rooms in my mayor's house (no side rooms), and they are as follows:
- main room: art classroom for town residents! it's very minimalist with LOTS of plants!
- back room: conservatory! i have a lotus pond in there, lots of flowers, and i keep the light off- it's lit only by the stained glass window in the back
- upstairs: star gazing bedroom! i have a huge moon in there, along with the starry sky and minimalist bed, among other things
- basement: woodsy study! i have a fireplace, rocking chair, strapped books, editors desk, typewriter, and other old-timey, detective-like things in there as well!

hope that gives you some inspiration! remember, it's totally okay to start in one direction and end in the total opposite direction! as long as you're pleased with your house :)

I'm planning on a cute little sewing room for my Mayor! I'm still in the collecting items phase of the process though. I also have a room where I've used the rococo furniture and the giant bookshelves to make a cute, academic looking study.

what about a greenhouse or a garden? c:
sorry its pretty messy tbh

Like you, I have a bedroom, living room, & kitchen. I also did a mermaid spa instead of a bathroom, a basement that I made into Mad Hatter's tea party, and the back room I'm working on to be a backyard complete with pizza oven, garden, etc. Good luck decorating your rooms! :)

My town is fairy-tale/pastel themed,
in my mayor's house I have a dreamy/pastel blue living room with some princess furniture, left room: pastel dining room for those with a sweet tooth, back room: a colorful backyard, right room: a sort of lovely/kawaii themed kids room?, upstairs: my bedroom with the Mermaid & Kiki and Lala series, downstairs: typical basement/den

I have one other house on a player named Rabbit. it's entirely Alice in Wonderland themed, with the eat me/drink me room being first, Mad Hatter's tea party, the caterpillar's garden, a lair for cheshire cat in the back, and the basement is white rabbit's room, sort of like a shrine playing on the zodiac rabbit.

i'm thinking of making a third player (for more patterns); probably a mix of a bewitched theme and sweets room as to imply the witch's house from hansel & gretel but i'm not sure yet!

i like doing typical house/domestic rooms for my main player character/me and then go with the other houses to help reinforce the theme for my town c:

- kitchen
- bathroom
- bed room
- ''common'' basement
- lounge room
- game room
- trophy room
- clothes room ( like a walk in closet )
- a mini museum ( with small bugs and or fish)
- a bakery ( or any other kind of shop )
- a coffee house
- a prison ( weird idea, i know :P )

when I'm designing my characters' rooms, I'll usually just take the generic, basic, every-day house room (kitchen, bedroom, study, lounge space, basement, bathroom) and put a themed spin on it, depending on the overall theme of the house/character/town. some people also try to transform their character houses into facility/shop-like buildings (cafes, restaurants, schools, hotels, etc), which is pretty neat. here are some other room ideas I've seen people use in hhd and acnl:

- indoor gardens
- movie theaters/concert halls
- mini aquariums
- antique shops
- gardening shops
- bakeries
- observatories
- gas stations/corner stores

really, just use the furniture you like and have fun with it! there's no right or wrong to acnl ^^
