I'm just now getting the chance to read some news reports. The Autopsy is tomorrow, but it's really looking like a suicide. As I was telling Callaway earlier, one of the funniest, happiest, and most influential people of our time died depressed and unhappy, and he'll be remembered as the most cheerful people in our lives.
Ms. Doubtfire 2 will most likely be canceled tomorrow. Conan had an amazing speech at the end of his show tonight, as he found out during the filming that Robin had died. This is all just still a shocker for me, and probably the only time I've ever been effected by a celebrity passing away.
If you were born in the 80's or 90's, then you've surely seen Flubber, Hook, Ms. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Good Morning Vietnam, Aladdin, and Bicentennial Man. There are many more, but he's been at the top of the comedy pyramid for most of my life. I really feel like I've lost a friend, even if I never knew the man personally. All of his performances are personable, and you feel as if you get to know him while you watch these films. Despite his fall out with Disney in the 90's and 00's, he was always known to be a kind, compassionate, and one of the most well-meaning celebrities out there.
While yes, there are more things going on in the world right now, this is something big enough for everyone to agree on. He was a wonderful actor, an on-screen teacher, and we'll always remember him as a friend even if none of us knew him.
I've always tried to make sense of things. There must be some reason I am as I am. As you can see, Madame Chairman, I am no longer immortal.
What's right is what's left if you do everything else wrong.
No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
Death is nature’s way of saying, ‘your table is ready.’
So, let's remember Robin for everything he was. He was a genius, a madman, a comedian, and felt more like one of the family than an actor. If you enjoy a drink, pour an extra. If you pray, give him your best. If you mourn, light a candle. We'll all remember what he was and what he did in our own way, but don't remember him as the man that spent his last years in rehab and depression. Remember him when he was happy, how he wanted all of us to be.
