River fish vs pond fish in manmade vs natural ponds

So I may be wrong but I feel like I read something recently about how to check if the water in pond is still or flowing (could just have been a vivid dream though haha?!) and now I'm wondering a) if that was real, b) if it is correct, what effect does this have on type of fish spawning - can pond fish only spawn in still water etc? And c) can the way manmade ponds are created affect which types of fish spawn in them? Which fish can spawn in manmade ponds?

I haven't created any ponds yet but I'm pretty sure the natural pond I have has spawned both pond and river fish - is that normal?

I've been curious about this myself. At what point is a pond considered "too big" and the game treats it as a lake instead?

I made a heart pond but it was giving me river fish, so I downsized. Now it spawns koi lol

My man made pond has been spawning pond fish and sometimes clifftop river rish. And only the clifftop ones so far.

Well Idk about size but they give different fish and one flows a direction while the other doesn't
