I just got news from my friend that Alex Trebek, aka the greatest game show host who ever lived, passed away today. He was 80 years old and he's been in the game show business since the 1960s.

I'm in tears and absolutely heartbroken. I'm gonna miss him so much 😭😭💔

RIP.

I remember I used to watch the Swedish version of Jeopardy! as a kid, good stuff.

:( :( :( If 2020 could stop killing everyone I love, that’d be cool.

RIP to a legend. Jeopardy won’t ever be the same without him.

I am so sad. He was like an awesome uncle or grandfather that was smart and kind and always a gentleman. I remember watching that show with my elderly aunt (who lived to be in her late 90s) and she loved him. It was a show that celebrated being smart and knowing things, which is really cool in its own right.

I've been watching Alex Trebek on TV since I was a kid.During summer vacations I'd watch way too many game shows including one of his early ones called High Rollers(I do not acknowledge the newer version hosted by Wink Martindale)which involved a huge pair of dice.At the time Trebek had an enormous perm and his classic porn star mustache(which I've always been envious of).But of course,he'll always be known best for Jeopardy which is the best game show of all time in my opinion.I'm going to miss him.

I've watched Jeopardy since the 90s and have always looked forward to playing along with the show every week night. It's a rare show that actually prizes knowledge and Alex was such an intelligent and witty host for many years.

What a year this has been. Why did you take Alex Trebek from us 2020?
♥️♥️♥️ Alex. You'll be missed.

I watch Buzzr a lot (which is like the 50s-80s version of GSN) and I saw him a lot on Card Sharks in the early 80s versions. I loved that perm and mustache lol. I've never watched High Rollers but I'd love to see him in that.

This is a very sad time for people who looked up to him, and I’m extremely sad to see him go. What makes this so sad for me is reading how he wanted to leave the show, the link is right here. (couldn’t find the article for the life of me so here’s what it said in a tweet)

He will be missed by me and a lot of people even if he was kind of snarky :) and I’m sure the show will continue and his memory will live on.

Rest in peace, Alex Trebek. It's going to be hard watching the new seasons without hearing his voice but from what I heard that he lived a long and happy life surrounded by family. I enjoyed having the episodes play in the background while doing other tasks. The next host is going to have big shoes to fill.

So sad. 2020 has been a tough year all around. I remember watching Jeopardy with my grandparents as a child. I wish his family the best.

Definitely not going to be the same watching the show anymore. He's been running it longer than I've been alive. Seeing someone else up there is going to be a surreal experience for a bit for sure.

Bringing up this thread again because Alex's last episode aired today. I actually cried after I watched the tribute. Anybody else share the same feelings right now?

Curious to see how Ken's fill-in run will go but that's another topic altogether.
