Reviewing towns!

I have updated my dreamtown. It would mean a lot to me if someone would visit it and let me know what they think!
I need a bridge, but I'm waiting for the fairytale one. Also I need to organize my trees. The flowers on the beach are just for getting more hybrids :)

If you do visit my town, and also if you don't, please let me know if you want me to review your town :)
I'll take that offer.
Your town:
very nice
like:
the fountain statues
garden in the west
all the flowers
choice of path
is that the HP theme I hear?

complaints:
feeling of emptiness - seems like there's more to be done in the town and your house
not enough trees - personal preference, but momma loves her trees

suggestions:
a few more pwps
a bridge on the west side where you have the path going straight to the river(is that why it's like that?)

Specific things I'd like opinion on:
more PWPs: what and where?
to the right of the southern bridge where the purple pansy is: tiki torch or streetlight(if st lt, which?)?
Alice: should I try make the left room into a palace bath or should I change it to a maid's quarters?
Reimu: how to make a Japanese bath area(not the spa set, but a feudal era-like bath)?

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my town ^_^
I have planted some more trees and I'm still working on my town!

I'll go ahead and dream of yours in a minute!

I have reviewed your town before, haven't I? So I'm just going to focus on the three things you mentioned :)

more PWPs: I don't really think there should be any more PWP's. It will get too crowded if you place any more PWP's in your town. So unless you move around a bit, I don't think there should be any more :) You could perhaps place a few streetlights? Or torches? Small PWP's could work, I think.

to the right of the southern bridge where the purple pansy is: I thinking the streetlight. It would look cute right next to the purple pansy :)

Alice: I really like the palace bath-idea! And the room is already awesome, so it probably wouldn't take a lot of work to make it amazing. However, the maid quarter's idea is a bigger challenge, but I don't think it would fit in.. But the main room could be a bit more palace-like in order to get the palace bath to work perfectly.

Reimu: Are we talking the room on the left? Well, in that case - you could add some bonsais and some candles, perhaps? Maybe some bamboo, if you can get bamboo for the house. You could also add some screens? Perhaps make it a bit geisha-like? With a mannequin in geisha clothes. That is what I would do :) And add some lilies?

your town:
Your town is very pretty! Here's a few thoughts while I was exploring, of course everyone has different taste, so? :)
around your town tree, I wonder if a more planned sequence of bushes might be better? it just seems like it's rather random which bushes you put in what order?

To the south-east of your town tree, it'd be lovely to see that circle of black lilies perhaps filled with more flowers?? Perhaps black lilies and white lilies??
I thought your statue fountain with the mixed roses around it was quite lovely.
to the south west of your statue fountain, near your yellow bench, I wonder if the path down from the fountain to the bench might look lovely with a mix of bushes and flowers lining it? like one bush, one flower, repeat, etc.

I wonder if a more dramatic "town square" type of wide path coming down from the town hall might be pretty? The bushes directly down from town hall seem to cut it off some. It might be pretty to clear those bushes out and put a PW like a fountain or a flower bed or something directly south of the town hall.

I think I would be tempted to think more about flower color combinations, i.e. perhaps limit the colors in some areas, and have different colors in others.

the southern cliff below your cafe and some villager houses feels a little barren, perhaps a few more flowers along the edge or something?

I particularly like the yellow bench on the far west side of your town near the cliff surrounded by sakura trees. very lovely. I love the narrow path with trees overhead and your flower arch.

your path placement and size makes it easy to find things and visit your town.

---------------

my town: I'm pretty new to the game, I'd love to get some constructive criticism on the outside areas of my game before things get too overrun and complicated. Path and tree placement, largely. The flowers are not done at all due to me trying to mass-hybridize some flowers and the flower beds and fence are just placeholders till I get more PWP suggested.

So basically? I'd love some suggestions on where to put bushes, path and tree placement, design of the outside near houses,? etc? and anything else that sticks out at you. Much thanks in advance.

What a wonderful review of my town! Thank you so much :D I really have something to work with now!!! Yay! <3

I'll do my best to give you a review just as good of your town! :D

Paths: They are confusing at the plaza. There are so many different kinds and I don't know which one to follow. Perhaps you could narrow it down a bit? I really like the "main" path that goes around town! I've had it myself and it's super cute! The area around Kitty's house is great - especially the paths! I like it!
Trees: I love the lemon trees near the recycle shop! It looks really cute :)
Flowers: I like the area around Aimee's house. I think that, with a lot of work, it could become really pretty! It needs some hybrids and perhaps some more PWP's in the area, but the placement is good :) And I love the peach trees nearby! The pink roses are a great idea and I'd love to see it when you've gotten more hybrids :D
PWP's: I like the zen-ish area! And the fountains, they look great :) I really love the streetlights together with the paths in front of your town hall. It simply looks amazing! The tower next to the fountain, under the townhall - if I were you, I would remove it.. It doesn't really fit in :(

In general: It's obvious that your town is a work in progress. It does, however, seem like you've got a plan for your future town! The paths line up a town, that is easy to get around it, but still leaves a lot of space to future projects and flowers. It will take a lot of work, a lot of hybrids, trees, bushes and PWP's, but it will be amazing when you get it done!

You have an area on the west side with no houses - you could use that for some park-ish area with benches, archs, bushes and trees? That's what I would do. It's also a challenge to make it work since it's not a big area, but a long area (if you know what I mean?) So you would have to be creative :)

The area with the zen bell could be a whole zen area of your town. Line it up with bushes and bamboo and make a zen garden! You do have some space under the plaza that allows you to do so :)

I really like nice transitions in towns. Something that makes it clear that you are now entering an area with a different theme or something. Like if you enter the part of the town were all the villagers are or a part with a park. You can use bushes, trees, paths and flowers for that :)

I would also make the south-eastern corner into a village-thing. Surround the villagers' houses with flowers, make them small gardens and put up PWP's that fits the whole "village" look. It looks awesome!

I hope you can use my review for something! I would happily review your town again, when you have updated it :) It looks like a town that is going to be really awesome :)

Any criticism anyone can offer is extremely welcome, my town is very much a WIP, updated today :) DA is in my sig :)

Paths: I don't really like the paths at the plaza. It seems so massive that it's just a big, red square. When I finally found the path on the left side, it was 5 squares wide. It's a lot. But yeah, that might just be my opinion :) I would also really like the path to go all the way around town, also to the villagers houses. So connect everything and I would like the path to be like 2 max 3 squares wide :)

Flowers: Your flowers seems to be all over the place. Except the roses and the northern part of your town. Are you working on that? I do really like the red and pink roses :) Perhaps you could add some white! It would look awesome!

Trees: There are a lot of trees and they don't seem to be in any order. Perhaps you should make some patterns with the trees? Use them to line up paths or create a forest?

PWP's: Your PWP's seems to be a bit random placed. You have a flower clock at the western part of the southern island that has great opportunities for a park-themed area or just a pretty area! The cube and streetlight in front of the caf? seems a bit weird? If I were you, I would get an idea of what kind of town you want. What kind of PWP's. Perhaps split the town up in areas with different themes. It would make look better, instead of all the different PWP's mixed together :)

In general: Your town seems confusing and looks like a work in progress. It needs some kind of theme, some kind of thing that ensures that all the parts of your town makes sense. I would start out with the paths, make a path around your whole town and don't leave out any area. After that, you can place flowers, bushes and trees. I would start with the trees, then bushes and flowers in the end. You can also think about PWP's and the placement of the PWP's you'd like :)

4200-2112-3988 Since my town map is horrendous I tried to make best with what I had and even though I'm not quite done I'd be nice to get some feed back.

Thanks so much for the in-depth feedback, Akina!

do you think you could tell me more specifically what you mean by the plaza (what is that? the town tree…?) and the confusing/too many paths? I'd like to make it simpler like you said, but I'm not sure exactly where you mean or which paths aren't necessary, etc. Much thanks.

I also feel kinda stuck with what to do with the area around Aimee's house. She's my mayor and I wish I'd put her house farther back from the cliff, but I don't want to restart now. There's not a ton of space around her house. I'd love to put a hot spring to the right of Aimee's house eventually. I'm hoping to get Bella (the neighbor villager just to the right of her) to move, so that would give me more space, but I'm kinda feeling trapped by that cliff being so close and I'm not sure how to make the area around her house pretty.

Also could you tell me more about what you were thinking with the south-eastern corner being a "village thing" ? I like the idea of it being a bit gardeny. Maybe a drinking fountain, wisteria trellis or a water well?

I hadn't quite thought of the west side of my town fully the way you described it and that's given me a lot of ideas to make it a really special area, thank you! I wanted to do a hawaiian themed area in the blocked out gravel area on the west side (with torches, hammock and moai statue…), but now I'm thinking about making it longer and including a little bench with an alcove and more arches. Thanks for the inspiration.

I agree, having a better "entrance" to the zen area is a great idea. I'll try to define this better. I'd like to add the zen lamp and the zen sand garden eventually but a lot of my PW aren't unlocked yet.

I think you are right about the tokyo tower, I like it, but it feels cluttered next to the fountain, so I think I will demo it and revisit the idea later in another location.

Anyway, thanks very much for taking the time to give me an in depth response. <3

Paths: I really like your stone path! It seems kind of natural and pretty. I don't really like the blue path at the plaza. What is it? The path around the garbage can near Olivia's house seems a bit too wide. It would be pretty that you worked around the trees with a grassy path, but the stone one seems a bit too rough at the edges.
The path near the ramp to the beach seems a bit too wide again. I prefer paths that are like 2 spaces wide :) Again on the eastern part of the town. The path is too wide and it seems like there's missing something?
The area around Rudy's house seems great :) But try to connect the bench to the rest of the path

Flowers: Your flowers seems super random. Try sorting them in colors or species. Make patterns, grow a lot of hybrids. It takes a lot of works, but it looks amazing.

PWP's: The drinking fountain and the chair - work on that part! It looks like a great start! Use some more bamboo, add some more zen PWP's and make it bigger :D
The fountain with the yellow bench and streetlights are really cute! You should try and plant some bushes or some more trees!
I like the black cube, but try make it even with the path around it. So if there's 2 spaces path on one side, make it 2 spaces on the other side :)

In general: Your town is a work in progress. Your town map isn't that bad! You can work with it, if you just settle on some kind of theme. Connect your town with your path and try to make it small(two spaces wide) and make it flow. After that, you can sort your flowers, plant some more trees and bushes. I think your town will be great once you've worked on it a bit more!

I'll go visit your town again! :D

The Plaza is the place with the town tree :-)
The paths that have the same tiles as your paths in the rest of the town can stay. It seems nice with the flower path along the edge of the plaza. But the grass path, the stone path - I think it's a bit too much :(

I also feel kinda stuck with what to do with the area around Aimee's house. She's my mayor and I wish I'd put her house farther back from the cliff, but I don't want to restart now. I would probably make some kind of garden. It is a bit tricky since there, as you said, aren't a lot of space. You could perhaps visit some other dream towns (some of those I've reviewed in this thread are amazingly pretty) and get some great ideas? I keep getting new ideas for my own town and people are really creative! You could also make a thread on the board and ask what people would suggest?
I do agree that you are trapped by the cliff.
I've just updated my town with a new garden/area around my house, so you could check that out.

Also could you tell me more about what you were thinking with the south-eastern corner being a "village thing" ? I like the idea of it being a bit gardeny. Maybe a drinking fountain, wisteria trellis or a water well?

You have 4 villagers that live somewhat close to each other. Connect them, make the paths around their houses seem like it starts one place and then leads to all the houses. The drinking fountain and the wisteria trellis are awesome! Perhaps the water pump? It looks really cute. Make some gardens with flowers and bushes and perhaps add a bench somewhere?

I hadn't quite thought of the west side of my town fully the way you described it and that's given me a lot of ideas to make it a really special area, thank you! I wanted to do a hawaiian themed area in the blocked out gravel area on the west side (with torches, hammock and moai statue…), but now I'm thinking about making it longer and including a little bench with an alcove and more arches. You are welcome :D I'm soooo looking forward to visit your town again!

I know the feeling! Jeeesus, I have 3 normals now and not one of them have ever suggested a fairytale PWP! I neeeeeed them, all of them. Just suggest them already :(

Great :D

Anyway, thanks very much for taking the time to give me an in depth response. <3

First of all - I love the bamboo at the plaza! I don't see that very often! It's nice! :D And the small presents at the plaza - cute!

Paths: I love your path. It simple, it's cute and it's not too much! You have a nice pathsystem, that makes sense and isn't confusing!

Flowers: Omg. Your hybrids! Wow. The tulips.... I'm jealous! But you do have an area above the caf? with a loooot of white and red roses. You could place a PWP or something in the middle to make it more interesting?

Trees: Your trees are nicely placed and doesn't seem too crowded or like there's not enough of them :)

PWP's: I love the signs! And the windmill! And all your PWP's in general. Well, I might miss some fountains, but I sure do love a looooot of fountains hahahahaha!
There is, however, a lot of space for some more PWP's. You can expand your park area or your zen area? Perhaps make some village-ish thing out of the western part with Hugh, Octavian, Genji and Rosie. Make them some gardens and place some benches. Perhaps a water pump would look great nearby?

In general: It seems like you are playing it safe. Your town is sweet, cosy and nice. You can leave like it is and it is still amazing. Especially your hybrids are just breathtaking. But if you want to spice things up a little, you can add a whole lot of PWP's. Perhaps some of the fairytale ones? I guess you might wait for them haha, it takes forever to get those requests!
Anyways - You have a nice layout, you have placed both houses and buildings nicely and you can easily work around it. If I were you, I would add some small gardens or maybe expand the zen area (loved the four leave clovers!) Your ideas seems to be great and I'm sure your town will stay beautiful! No matter if you leave it as it is or continue working on it :)

I'm reaaaally bored, so if there's anyone who would like a review, let meee know! :D

If you could review my town is be very grateful! It's not even close to being finished but I'd appreciate any feedback! c:
