Resetting for the perfect town

I didn't reset at all. I randomly told Rover no a couple times to layouts just because I wasn't sure what he meant for a little, but besides that I just went with it. Kind of regret it since my train station and town hall were brown (I've remodeled them now,) and my river is huge, but oh well.

Glad I'm not the only fussy one at least! I can completely understand just wanting to play though, and going with what the game gives you.. It's just that now I've been going for so long that i feel like i have to make it worth it, hahaha. This must be my third day now, I've been SO close to getting the perfect town. I feel like I've reached a point of insanity. I wish they would give you more than four map options at a time, it would make it much easier..

How do you post pictures on here?

Carina, i love the symmetry in your map! :)

Simple. I didn't.

I usually try to avoid those with narrow space on the top right/left cause they are useless imo

I took one of the first ones I found, I though it were cool because it were pretty small compared to the other layouts, that's the worst decision I have ever made, it sucks having a small layout, I cannot make all the awesome stuff I want, though I have done a good job so far considering the layout at least.

I just went with the first layout for my main town, then I reset a bit for my second town (mostly for villagers) and annoyingly settled on a layout I'm not too pleased with in the end as I preferred the villagers. heyho. too lazy to reset too much!

I took one of the original four that Rover offered. I didn't know what the symbols on the map meant or that you could reset. I just picked one that I liked most and went with it.

My boyfriend reset for two whole days. He had a laundry list of requirements he wanted:
-vertical ramp to the dock
-Retail close to the dock
-a tiny beach that had no ramp
-space for a house near that tiny beach
-a secluded area for him to put his house
-the town hall directly north of the event area
-a vertical waterfall drop from the river to the beach
Even after all that, he also wanted cherries or apples as his native fruit. He reset a town he picked that fulfilled half his requirements, but HAD STITCHES IN IT, because it did not have apples or cherries as the native fruit.

After I reset the first time, I briefly had an awesome map... except the next day I decided that I hated where I had put my house. So, I reset again, and was suck in a loop for a while trying to get a specifically laid out "perfect" map. It got frustrating fast and I had to talk myself down into relaxing my requirements. I started looking closer at the best of the four that Rover would show me, to check the station and hall colours, and the fruit. I decided to keep my current map when I got off the train and saw Rolf standing there :)

It's not without its flaws - a few things, like pond and rock placement, that will be encouraging some more creative landscaping on my part, but overall, I love it. The open space is terrific; I may not be able to get a bridge in front of my house, but I have room to do a mini park there; and while I plan to let some of my villagers move on, I do have a pretty good bunch with nice plot placements.

Forgot about this thread for a while, thanks for all the responses though! I did eventually get my perfect town, i reset for about five days in the end, i think. I love my town - i have the winding river that i wanted, so my house is in its own separate area. The smaller side of the river has no buildings so i can make that the more rural area. There's lots of space for PWPs.. I have a vertical ramp to the dock, retail is close to Main Street, there's only one pond which is in a really good place. My town plaza us pretty much exactly central, and the town hall is right next to it (i originally wanted it directly north of the plaza like in the town i had for a few days and reset, but decided it looks nice next to it and has good design possibilities). And the pond in the river is in a really nice place, too.
Sorry, i just really love this town, even after over a month of playing in it. I'd post a picture but my phone won't let me, and I'm too lazy to use my computer.. My dream address is on my profile though, so feel free to look it up (even though it's a slightly outdated version of the dream, i can't update it as i don't have WiFi right now). But yeah, feel free to keep posting pictures of your towns and stuff! :D

I didn't reset for my main town's map but I reset for about an hour-hour and a half for my 2nd towns map. I wasn't going for dreamies or anything but it ended up having Ankha in it so I was ecstatic.

I'm considering to reset my main town and look for a new layout. I basically made it without knowing much about ACNL (haven't played AC since Game Cube), so now that I know a lot more, I'm like "urghh..". I mean, my current map is okay, doesn't bother me too much.

I think once I'm done cycling, I'll make that copy into a 'perfect' town. My cycling town has a perfect map ;__;. I actually would have kept it but I was being a derp and plotted my mayor house down in the middle of a nice area. LOL

After countless hours.. I found my one!

1. Has circle grass
2. Blue roof station
3. Apples as native fruit
4. Plaza is right in the middle

My cons are..

I don't like my villagers x_x

Since I was a newbie and knew nothing of the game, I took the very first map that was offered to me. I'm LUCKY AS HELL that I got a good map out of sheer dumb luck, and I have good villagers too! xD

And despite that I chose a random map, I've never reset, and I'll only reset when I've done literally EVERYTHING xD

Literally the exact same, my re-tails next to the train station, town hall behind the plaza- really a perfect layout, even if I had Jambette for monthssss
