Nintendo confirmed a 2012 release for Luigi's Mansion 2 shortly after E3 (or maybe it was during E3, I forget).

On an Animal Crossing note i found out in Nintendo Power that Animal Crossing is confirmed to be released in 2012 so there you go.

I'm going to say I believe that Spring 2012 would be more appropriate for a release date for Animal Crossing 3DS.
It'll give us something to look forward to and it'll allow me to save money for it as I'm planning to purchase the following games:

-Sonic Generations (Special Edition) x2
-Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
-Mario Kart 7
-Super Mario Land 3D
