I think that I've been doing everything right. I have flowers in dirt paths, and I water them every day. I've been TTing back and forward, still watering, as I'm cycling out villagers. But I don't see any progress with my grass... am I doing something wrong? Does it just take so long that I won't really see anything for a long time? Is there a trick to speed up the process for me?

It takes a really long time I am currently regrowing my grass right now, what I found is that when I plant trees and flowers over dirt patches it tends to grown a bit quicker than just flowers.....I could be wrong but it is just what I noticed ^^;

Have the same problem with 'grass baldness' in my town.
(Tried all the things you've done there w/no improvement...)

I've found that the fastest and most effective alternative is using QR paths with grass patterns.

Not only do they come in triangle, circle & square that mimic your native grass,
they also come in different seasonal shades.

Big plus: By covering the real ground or baldy areas, it'd be helpful with the regeneration of new greens underneath too.

n__n Hope this helps!

Watering helps, but once you water a flower you CANNOT walk on that flower or the watering will not be effective, you will be taking away the added effect of the watering. Therefore if you are trying to regrow grass, never ever walk on flowers.

Don't worry, it'll come back in time, just be patient and keep watering! And IMO, the fake grass paths look really stupid and fake omo

I heard time traveling 20 days forward will instantly have your grass grow back. This could be wrong, however.

It takes a lot of time. Rain helps regrow the grass. Maybe time traveling back and forth from a rainy day?

If you're walking over the area to water the flowers, it voids the effect. In my experience of having villagers move and leave square patches of dirt, I outline the area with flowers, water those, and never walk inside that ring. I've noticed significant regrowth by the end of a week like this.

Some dead patches just don't grow at all, they're there by default. You may be dealing with one of those, if it bothers you a lot you can cover it with a path or just permanently plant flowers over it. I have several of these places in my town, and I never run or stray from the path. I've just grown to ignore them.

A pic I put together for someone else recently showing grass repair around my cafe after trying not to walk on it at all, if it's any help. It may have been my imagination, but I felt as hough grass repair in the summer was slower than other seasons.

Thank you everybody for the tips. Perhaps some of these were dirt patches I've had since day one, which I know will NOT grow grass on them. I think that's because dirt paths need a "start" point where there is no grass. So that it spreads out, doesn't just surprisingly show up out of nowhere. Except for where houses were. That's actually what I'm most concerned about. The areas where villagers used to live, but don't no more.

I've time traveled a year back, did the trick to make sure nobody moved, then moved a year forward. Now I'm thinking that most of the patches I've been trying to fix are just permanent. Which is a pity because that seems to be a lot of them. Haha. Anyways, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. Teru, your pictures were a HUGE help. I don't walk on my flowers at all. I'll just continue leaving flowers on dirt patches and watering them. If they grow grass, great. If not, well the flowers are still there to "beautify" the patches, so to speak. xD

Bushes are quite effective at regrowing grass in my experience, at least the way I lay them out. As a natural barrier, it can be used to discourage me from walking in certain areas, allowing them to recover, and the bushes themselves seem to help regrow the grass regardless of my change in habits. To see the effect this has had on my town, you can visit my dream town, which has recently been updated (DA in signature).

okay i do this all the time so trust me it works!
