If I delete a custom design, what happens to the item that?s customized with that pattern? (The yellow leaf items?)
Does the pattern stay. I think a while back I used to do this but it?s been so long that I?m not 100% sure is that statement is accurate.

I don't know from firsthand experience, but I think the set patterns would be permanently set. I would think the patterns are saved like QR Codes where the design will always exist even if the pattern itself is no longer in existence amongst the creator's patterns. Hope this helps and if anyone discovers otherwise, feel free to correct me! :)

It's been a while since I've customized an item with a custom design, but I believe that when you have it done Cyrus tells you himself that if you change or delete your custom design, the furniture pattern will change to match the new design.

That is interesting Destani! I will have to check that out sometime since I'm curious. :) If that is the case though, what happens when you give someone that custom furniture in a completely different town?

I'm not sure if you can give it to someone else. I know that you can't give the yellow leaf items to the animal villagers in your game and I've read that you can't drop them on the ground either. Not sure what would happen if you tried to put the item up for sale in Retail.

That is very interesting, I guess I feel like they could have found a way to save specific patterns to furniture, but I guess there was something in the programming aspect of the game's development that didn't click right to make it possible. :/ After doing further research, it appears to be that the only custom furniture that involves design-changing that you can share indisputably are ones that use clothing that all games share. The Re-Tail route is still in question though because I read somewhere that it is apparently possible! :o I guess you or I need to test it out to confirm! :)

Hey guys, I just tried putting my custom document stack into Re-Tail and Reese let me.
You're right about not being able to put them on the ground (Learned that the hard way through a trade, haha.).

I guess it just sits in Re-Tail forever? Maybe I can see if they ping for it.

Do you by any chance know if you delete the custom design if it stays on the item? ( like how it stays in the custom design public works public even when deleted ?)

It doesn't, it might still count as a custom design though (it just turns white). I remember getting the design prompt when uploading my dream address when I had erased designs, or at least an erased design on a furniture item. It may have been counted still as a design because I had edited the name to "white", not sure.

I had no idea it still stays on cut-out public works though, I don't have any of those.

Oh ok thank you for verifying! I honestly have no idea how I’m going to get all the space I need for all the custom designs. Yeah I was surprised the custom design sign stayed after I deleted a pattern.

There are 2 patters.

A) The QR design that's used to refurbish the fabric is not what you made but someone else made.
( This is the case there's a command "delete the design". )
In this case you can't put it in the re-tail.

B) The QR design that's used to refurbish the fabric is what you made.
( In this case there isn't a command "delete" but there's only "change the design". )
  1. While it's in re-tail, you can overwrite the design with other design.
  2. But the design on furniture in re-tail doesn't overwrite with new one. ( The same design stays on the fabric. )
  3. When you tell Reese that you're gonna get it back from re-tail after overwriting, Reese asks you where to save the QR design that's on its fabric.
  4. Once you get it back and put it in your room, it has the design that's before overwriting. Of course, because the said QR is saved in the QR slot in previous step.

Hope my explanation makes sense. Revising my bad English would be appreciated!

If you were to delete your own design that was on an item in Re-Tail, would the design delete and turn white, or would it stay the same?

I believe there isn't a command to delete the design, when you tap a certain QR slot and its what you made. Or maybe I'm wrong, the command delete might be available for Pro-design. Lemme check.

EDIT :
I was right. Regardless if it's Pro-design or regular design, the command "delete" is only available when it's the design someone else made.
So, in the first place occasion "If you were to delete your own design" is not possible.
Deleting the design and by that making the fabric so-called "blank" is only possible when you use the QR that's made by someone else.

Got it, thanks for clarifying! I read your original post edit just after your reply to me.

Ah, I see. Now I'm trying to sort out if there's a way to make Ellie's wish come true, but sadly I'm already pretty much started dozing off. ^^; I'll try thinking about it again after I wake up~

Oh, I just remembered, aren't you technically able to delete your created QR by copying a blank deleted QR? So what I'm asking is, how would this instance work if an item in Re-Tail had your design, and then the design was replaced by a blank QR by copy method?
Sorry for all these replies haha.

Oooof I actually added more custom designs signs this time around ( which would be less landscaping qr) I haven?t finished all houses but I?m seeing less and less space.

Just a thought maybe. How does it work with qr from other people? I know from me it replaces if I change it, but what about if it?s another persons design?

Yes, it's possible to overwrite a design slot by other slot that's "blank".
But the point is, regardless of the type of QR to overwrite the slot that's used to refurbish the fabric, the original design on fabric doesn't change while it's put up in re-tail. When you do this copy process in your room, the change immediately reflects on a fabric.

When it's other person's design, you can't put it in re-tail.

So far there doesn't seem to be a way to make what you wanna do possible. But not sure because I'm half sleeping right now haha.

Ah, I see. I figured it was the same instance, but I wanted to ask to be sure if the same applied.
My reason asking is I wanted to know if this inadvertently was another way to save more designs, which it seemly is by how you've described.

Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks for asking as well. It helps. Wish there was a way. ^^;
